I played both betas and the PC version is far superior to whats on console, even a PC at lowest settings 1280x720 looks streets infront of the sub HD console version.

PC version has 64 player too and consoles only get 32 players max.

Bootcamp it all the way... I played the beta on my 2009 Mac Pro with radeon 4870 and it worked pretty well... couldn't handle all the graphics bells and whistles, but turning those down in played adequately. If your iMac is a newer model with 5000 or 6000 series graphics, it'll play just fine..

The console versions are seriously gimped...

Since he has i7 with 1gb, then either Ati 5750 (5850M) or 6970M, both will run BF3 better than a console

No console to hard to control if you're not use to the controller on the console.

It seemed more a matter of what comp you're trying to run BF3 on. If you go a nice rig, go with the PC version. I don't so I went with the 360 version. I also have more friends who play online in consoles which sealed the decision. Vid quality is nice & all, but BF3 is a team based game, and I went with that.

right, i have a 27" imac with 1gig video card. Probably not the best gaming platform but with win7 on it it'll do. Plus all my friends are holding out COD on the xbox. Lame

6970 is a very respectable mobile GPU. You wont get the max setting on native resolution for sure. But it'll still run well on mid-high. And from what I've heard even mid-low spanks the crap out of both of the console versions.

Get it on PC. it's the way it was meant to be played.

Until you have played FPS games in a home theater then maybe you should be less likely to judge the other side. :D

Sure, current consoles are limited, but that is because they were designed for a specific venue, which is consumer electronic displays. But, those displays can be anything from the tiny boob-tube to, well, my 10' CinemaScope screen.

And sitting in a desk chair in front of a tiny 27" monitor with questionable sound and discomfort isn't everyone's cup of tea. I've played FPS since the early 1990's on the PC, and when I changed to consoles (with the original Xbox), life was more simple and a lot more enjoyable.

I cannot say how much fun it is playing FPS on the 360 and PS3 with friends. Nice large picture in front of me with 7.1 sound in a dedicated space and a lot of dynamics. Sure, I might not get the most resolution (and detail) out of it, but everything else more than makes up for it.

I've always enjoyed first person shooters on consoles but i'd get bf3 on a pc if I could run it. The game was made for huge multiplayer battles.

I have a 2009 iMac with the 4850 and after some over clocking, I have BF3 running pretty well at 1080p. It is on medium settings with a few things on low and I average between 35-50 FPS through fraps. I would advise anyone with a option to get this game for the PC. The PC supports 64 players and the maps are much larger. It is well known that they had to downsize some of the rush maps for the console version. I'm glad that I got this up and running because this is the only pc game I wanted to play and I didn't want to build a new pc just to play it.

I have my 2011 iMac is connected to 50" LED TV and nice sound system. Why settle for 6 years old console when you can get much better graphics, larger maps and more players per server. It runs amazingly well. I am actually very impressed how iMac handles high demand graphics.

you have a solid point. None of my friends are gonna get BF3, they are all COD fanboi's and holding out for that. I do have a home theater with a 65" and 5.1, but its down stairs. I usually play my xbox on my imac via kanex xd. its only 720p but its convenient cuz the wife is usually watching x factor or something lame on the TV that away we can both be happy.

The kanex plays through the speakers of the imac, or in my case headphones.

After all, i think most people are right. It was made to be played on a computer. bigger maps, (slightly) better graphics, 64 player. SOLD

Couldn't disagree more. hate playing FPS with my projector, most other games are fine, but not FPS. gotta sit in front of my small 22" monitor.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A334 Safari/7534.48.3)

    iMac 27" 2.9ghz 4gb ram and ati5750.

I run it at 1600x900 with a mix of medium/high settings. I get an average of 45fps, and compared to the 360 version - pc is much better looking. I was in the same boat, have more friends on the 360 and ps3, but mouse and controller wins.

That being said, I only have 2 friends on origin... So if any macrumors ppl want to add me, my name is b0wzy
