Today I was able to add my BB&T card to apple pay and got to the step where I call for verification. I call the number and the rep. has no idea what apple pay is and puts me on hold so she may speak to a technician. A few minutes later she comes back and tells me

"At this time we do not support :apple: pay and are in the process of training for it"

WTF BB&T!! You should've done that before allowing your cards to be added. Ugh!!!

I too can now add my BB&T debit card to my phone for Apple Pay. Although, the following link states that is is coming soon: http://www.bbt.com/bbtdotcom/online-services/online-banking/apple-pay.page

What do you have to call BB&T to verify the card? I have 2 Capital One credit cards and I didn't have to call anyone to start using them with apple pay. I will try to test my BB&T card sometime this week to see if it works. When I open the passbook app it states that "BB&T Debit Card" is ready for Apple Pay.

So apparently you can add your card because BB&T is currently testing apple pay. You cannot make transactions as of now. See their facebook response: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct...6tRjEVrZAdvwXKZn6HU1l3w&bvm=bv.80642063,d.eXY

Generally speaking, every experience I've ever had with BB&T has been terrible. Not sure why anyone still banks there.

This I what I am presented with after adding the card. It frustrates me they would let it be added before training their staff.

It's starting to become that way with me, they always seem to be late adopting new technology. They made a post the other day about how awesome EMV terminals are but their own cards don't have that technology :/

Here is what mine says. I will attempt a purchase later this week.

Keep us posted on your findings.

I removed my card and wanted to re add it, see if I get a different result. It's not letting me re-add the card. This is a big bummer because I would like to use it when Christmas shopping.

i was able to add mine yesterday, but it never got past the "activating." screen so it actually shows as being added to passbook, but i can't use it.

I tried to delete and re-add today, and i ended up with the same result. still waiting...

Went to Petco and the transaction went through. If you look on BB&T's Facebook page some users slid past the activation method and some didn't. It's really just the luck of the draw. I didn't have to activate anything. I just added my card and it was activated and ready to go.

Was able to add my card again but it's asking for verification again. Will call again before I go to work in the late morning.

I added my card and it had me call for verification. When I called, the rep said the people who handle Apple Pay are only available between 8AM and 6PM EST, so I would have to call back. I'm glad BB&T is finally using it.

BB&T ApplePay success - adding card at least

Successfully added both BB&T Visa and Debit Card with confirmation letter from the bank. Still waiting to use to make a purchase.

YMMV

Not to dig up an old thread, but I had my BB&T debit card (Visa) set up on Apple Pay...until I needed to do a restore for an unrelated issue. My Chase and BofA visa cards can be added without any issues, but my BB&T card can't. I'm not sure what the issue is, because in that time frame of adding/phone reset/re-adding but failing, I have bought many things online and in store with this card.

Sounds like an issue on BB&T's end with their servers, have you tried contacting them?
