I cant get the programmes to start.I have tried all the programmes that people have said are working. It gets to the first still of the programme but then there is no way of getting the programme to run.

I am using an ipod touch with the updated software.Anyone been able to get the programmes running on the touch

It works on a touch. Have you clicked he play button in the bottom right of the picture? It sometimes takes a while to load.

Oh my God! Some news of a service that the British Mac users CAN'T bitch about not being released over by them first! This IS big!!!

Not only first, probably only. The Beeb is funded by UK licence owners.

Many things are US-first for virtually no reasonable reason.

I just tried it using VNSea but the screen refresh is way too slow to make it watchable even on my home network. It needs an optimized stream like Slingplayer uses to make it useable I think

Guess we'll have to wait

I don't understand why it won't work in the states? :(

Speaking of which, I'm really anxious for AT&T to get it's MediaFlo (FloTV) thing going!

Wow! Really impressed with how seamless this is and how good the quality is!

Last night's News at 10 and Newsnight both looked great and were streaming faster than I was watching, even on my crapola "up to 8MBit" (lawlz) BT Broadband.

This really is fantastic!! I can't wait to get started using this, its ideal for when I'm stuck on campus with nothing to do! Now hurry up BT/Apple and get this onto the AppleTV - I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

It won't work in the States because BBC content such as this is for UK TV License payers only. They use geographic technology to check if your browsing from abroad, or within the UK - to decide whether access is permissible to you.

Remember, we can't access your content on ABC.com for some of us Lost fans etc. (I know we can use a proxy, but it doesn't work very well).

I presume for Licensing and copyright issues, both the BBC and ABC block access to the appropriate Countries.

By the way, I have tried the BBC iPlayer, and it is awesome. Yes, more content needed, but it is only day 1. Should be fully up and running with more content I suspect in a weeks time or so.

Happy viewing!

Tried this out a few hours ago and... wow. My expectations were fairly low, granted - but the quality and ease of use is just great.

Wouldn't be a macrumors post if I didn't include a big wishlist though  how about a download service to let me watch the programmes while I'm on the train? That would be just spiffing.

I still cannot get it working, tried a couple of examples of eastenders. The first screen comes up but then no play button appears on the right hand side of screen.I have the greyed out buttons underneath the screen but am not getting the play button on right hand side of screen.

My first post here! Interestingly, this works better on my iPod touch than it does on my MBP, both wireless and in the same room in the house. The Mitchell & Webb episode loaded almost immediately on the touch, its still trying to load on my MBP 5 mins later.

Pretty good quality although I couldn't work out which shows were available and which weren't, you just have to select them to found out.

Stomping feet in frustration. Anyone venture to guess if there's any type of workaround so USA users can get it?

I watched Little Britain on it today. And also the Horizon episode. Great quality for a change.

This is terrible news. For the first time ever my girlfriend took an interest in my iphone and decided to watch eastenders in the bath. Looks like I will have to get her one now.

Works very well and the quality is great. Well done BBC.

Well if you're using a UK wifi spot you'll have no problems, and since BT Openzone's offer free access to BBC.co.uk, you should be able to watch in loads of places. Its all IP driven.

Yeah I know but that wasn't the point. The OP's idea was to try and 'sling' it outside the geographic ring fence by having a MBP inside the fence relay it to the iphone outside.

The encoding server was only turned on yesterday, so the only content that's up is stuff from last night and today rather than the six days before that.

Obviously over the next few days that'll cease to be an issue. I doubt there'll be going back to re-encode stuff from before yesterday though.

Phazer

We've have the last 7 days going through, more will appear over the next few days
