I would gladly pay a fee in the US for real BBC TV. I don't particularly care for these Star Trek marathons on BBC A and censored shows.

I'm with there. Getting tired of the same old shows being shown. They could do something similar like the Sling TV app did with a monthly fee.

i am hoping they somehow issue logon accounts to license holders and then relax the region checks. I would gladly hit a Paypoint shop whilst in UK and fork over 145 quid for a year to be able to watch iplayer when i return to the U.S.

I love BBC Radio 3. I listen it all the time on my Mac, listening to the archived shows of my choosing. There is an app on Android that (sort of) works. Canadian radio is complete utter crap but I would pay for for access to BBC Radio and it'd be great to have access to the TV shows as well.

Canadian app store, plz.

Because they are trying to make the fee look like better value. The point is the fee is largely for TV access, they have TV detectors, prosecute people for watching without a fee and have always restricted access outside of the U.K.

No the BBC hasn't, as anyone with a satellite dish in Europe can attest. Pretty much all of the UK channels are there unencrypted - BBC, ITV, CH4, CH5 etc. Doubt that the signal will reach the US, however. Germany also does not encrypt. France, Italy, Spain and Scandinavia do.
