Hi!

I have a few wonderings about the Apple tv..

Yesterday I watched a 1080p movie on the Apple tv through Beamer, it worked fine. But then I connected the projector directly to a (2014) Macbook pro with a HDMI cable and the image quality was improved ALOT. Smoother, sharper, more detail etc. It was an 8 gb .mkv file played on VLC.

So I'm wondering if the image quality from the Apple tv simply is worse than the computer? Or if this has something to do with the streaming? Would it be better to stream the content some other way than beamer or improve the quality in beamer some way? Also, I have a Macbook Air (2013), would the image quality from that be superior as well?

I suspect a good old fashioned HDMI cable is the way to go, but I thought I should ask the experts first! Streaming is so much more convenient 🙂
