I could be kicking a dead horse, but...

Whether or not the copy protection is there, its funny
that this rumor is even there that they care about copy protection.
They sample from just about everybody.

Here is a Sample and Reference List from Paul's Boutique...

BTW, How is it that this thread has over 26,000 views while other older threads barely break 1000?

If anyone has a CD where they have messed with the error correction bits, there is a checkbox in the iTunes importing which may interest you...

You're talking about the "Use Error Correction When Reading Audio CD's" check box, right? I turn that on, but if I don't, then that's probably a way to get around the purposely placed errors in the CD, right?

Thanks, I've never thought about it this way. I have a few of these Copyright protected albums, and since it never affected my listening or playability experience, I didn't think much of them. Silly me. It just ain't obvious to the laymen.

i just read toady about the beastie boy cd copy protection again...guess what... EMI said the cds in the UK and USA are not copyprotected

I have read that in many different places too.
I don't buy actual CD's so I wouldn't know, the album is only 39 cents on allofmp3... :)

Has anyone in the US or UK bought this CD and had problems???

this thread got slashdotted. if you've been around the past day or two, you may have noticed some server-too-busy errors; i'm guessing it's related.

I'd like to say that you deserve whatever you get when you listen to the Beastie Boys. (Can you sense my dislike for their music?) Still, it doesn't make sense to harass us folks who actually buy music with such restrictions.

It's an old username. ....And HFS used to be pretty cool about 4/5 years ago before infinity started messing with it.

You're so young...

HFS was pretty cool 10 years ago -- before they were bought by CBS/Infinity in 1996.

The new owners left the station's format and playlist intact for about 8-12 months before they began to 'revise' the highly successful formula, and it's been downhill from there. (Some people claim that the decline started when HFS moved from 102.3 to 99.1 on the dial, but that's before my time.

I have a T-shirt from the HFSestival in 94? No Doubt, Presidents of the United States of America, Garbage.

My son wears it.

I remember the moshpit... A bunch of stupid punkers thought it was fun to punch people in the head. Their problem was not a one of them was much over 110-120 pounds. Astonishing how they bounce when actually given a good bump...
