Beats 1 - Not working in Lion

Come on Apple. You have to be kidding??

Upgraded to iTunes 12.2.2 for Apple Music. So far so good. Streaming music works fine. As does streaming of a selection of radio stations.

When I come to stream Beats 1 I get 'Unable to play Beats 1. This station requires 10.9.3 or later'. What?!?! For what possible reason! I can't upgrade this Macbook because Lion is as far as I can take.

So Apple ….lets get this straight.On an Apple Macbook running a Apple operating system I cannot get Beats 1? But I can get it on a PC running Windows? For what possible reason is this not compatible?

Anyone experiencing the same issues?

Welcome to the weirdness that is iTunes system support.

Seriously, though, I believe I read that the Beats 1 stream takes advantage of some portion of the http protocol (Http Live Streaming protocol?) that is not supported on all systems. It may be that this is not supported by the version of Webkit in Lion.
