if you consider the speaker is $150 that would make the bear ONLY $350
Good gawd if I was going to piss away the money I’d at least put it towards getting 3 more speakers which, if I caught a good deal on it when it inevitably starts seeing sales, is not unfathomable to get four units for around $500…

$500 is simply too much. Should be sold separately and at a much lower price.

I somehow completely missed that the new Beats Pill had been released.

I was aware of the existence of the new Beats Pill when LeBron was seen with it pre-release (paid to advertise it, I would assume). But I completely missed the actual release announcement.

I’m not sure how I missed it though. I’m reading through MacRumors all the time. 😂

watching oldheads on this website not grasp the demographic that Beats has (successfully and profitably) chased since Apple’s acquisition of it is truly one of my most genuine sources of entertainment 💜
I said the same thing to my father about the Sony Walkman…. 40 years ago. And you will not grasp the demographic in 40 years’ time. Because “youngheads” never realise that one day they will be “oldheads”. I’m looking forward to being an “ancienthead”, when today’s youngheads are the oldheads and the new youngheads are calling being woke a joke.

Apple's Beats brand is partnering with Japanese graphic artist Verdy for a limited edition collectible art figure that doubles as a holder for the new Beats Pill speaker. The $500 hyper-limited drop includes a matte black Beats Pill and a cream-colored bear named Vear that holds the speaker between its paws.

Beats has a tradition of fun characters associated with the Beats Pill, including ad campaigns and speaker stands for previous models centered around the Beats Pill Characters or "Dudes" in various colors. Apple revived the Dudes for the launch of the updated Beats Pill this year, so the new Vear character fits right into that theme even though it won't be seeing a wide release.

Beats and Verdy also have a history of collaborations, most recently in 2023 for Beats Flex earphones themed around Verdy's Girls Don't Cry brand.

The Vear and Beats Pill bundle will be available to order this Friday, August 30, exclusively through Complex, with shipping following in two to three weeks.

The more I read this stuff, the more I believe humanity is on a downward trajectory….

I mean, I guess you have to do whatever it takes to try to sell Beats gear. I think marketing to kids is a great idea, since they don't know any better.

"Hyper-limited drop"

Clearly, I'm just too old for this stuff.
Hyper Limited meaning that we know that we can only sell a few of these to people who have more dollars than sense. I mean, you can get a much nicer speaker for $500 but, no bear. Tough decision...🤣🤣🤣

Beats is fine, and I understand the demographic and I understand the brand..

The pill isn't the issue, it's the several hundred dollar bear/mouse figurine. I asked my teenagers about it (the bear), and they had never seen or heard of it, nor did they care.

It truly is an evergreen past time. Ditto for any musician or female celeb. boomers be clamoring to announce how little they care.

So you are ordering one then? I’ll wait for your response.
A pill? thinking about it. I have a minor need of a BT speaker, and I have been pleasantly surprised with my PowerBeats Pro's. Been buying cheapo speakers forever, and they never seem to last.

The toy thing? No, I'm not interested. Never even heard of the artist. If I were ultra-rich and a fan, then I dunno maybe? But I'm neither, so I'm just here to laugh at the grumps.

Then by your definition you are one of the "grumps". The only thing that prople had problems with was the "toy thing" that is $350. Welcome to the club lol.

I suppose so, since I don't recall complaining about the toy. They say the memory is the first thing to go.
