That’s the problem. Monster beats sucked. Since Apple took over the sound and quality changed. You would be surprised how good they are now.Sadly i'll never be able to give the 'all new' BEATS brand a try. As young students, we got sucked into their headphones in 2011. Five times more expensive than others at the time but we loved them and bought them (Solo HD, iBeats). Sadly, they fell to pieces within 4 or 5 weeks and we were truly let down / ripped off by Monster's non existent warranty.
I remember having to send mine from the UK to Monster HQ in Holland (I believe). I paid £10 for the postage. They kept them for 12 weeks. I then sent an Email to ask what as happening. Heard nothing. They then sent them back to me still broken with a note saying 'Sorry, Dr Dre and BEATS have parted company with Monster now. We accept no responsibility."
£180 wasted in a few weeks. They were true 'Monsters' to deal with.
I never understood why Apple who pride themselves on quality would buy a crappy brand like this - a brand that was once fashionable - in 2011 before people quickly moved on.
Yes, Apple did it for Apple Music and Jimmy but seriously, what a liability taking on such a poor quality brand. You really can't polish a turd!
Having heard SOLO 3, they sounded so muddy compared to the B&W P3 at £129 which sounded so crisp, clear and true in comparison.
When an educated person has a poor experience with a brand, they move on and never return to it!
I still feel angry when I see Apple promote BEATS.
And why anybody can think that they look good when in reality, they are a mass of cheap plastic. Nothing else - no aluminium, no beautiful materials just cheap plastic! How can cheap plastic ever be seen as fashionable in 2018??? Times have moved on since plastic headphones with a B sticker on them in 2011!
Of course, but at least the hardware that was announced was something the developers could you know... develop forNo, I have to disagee. They've used WWDC to announce laptops, iphone models, speakers, mac pros. They make no such distinction whether its a single product vs. a product line. The conference is dedicated to developers but Apple has consistently used the keynote as a vehicle to announce hardware.
The developers could use the head phones ¯\_(ツ)_/¯Of course, but at least the hardware that was announced was something the developers could you know... develop for
People always slag off beats but you know what? I have to stand up for them. I tried the Beats X and they sounded great. I now have the powerbeats 3 headphones, and they sound superb. They have bass but it's controlled not boomy and sound is similar to when you have a good pair of stereo speakers and a subwoofer. I really like them.
I did own a pair of Beats EP On-Ear Headphones but they sounded muffled to me.
I have owned KEF speakers, a REL subwoofer, Etymotic earphones, B+O headphones, Bose headphones, Audio Technica, Grado, etc. So I have listening to quite a lot of brands and want high quality sound and to me and my ears, the powerbeats 3 are perfect (and don't fall off your ears or out of them).
I also owned the first gen beats earphones and overhead noise cancelling headphones and they did suck! Boomy bass, just a cheesy HIP/HOP sound with everything you listened to. A bit like those guys who have 24" subs in the boot of their car that cost £30 but sounds like garbage!
Honestly, try the powerbeats 3, you won't be disappointed!
Battery life is one of their strong points. I charge mine about once every few weeks and use them to commute (30-40 mins a day) x 2. Use them at night to watch the odd youtube video and usually ending with about 40% left.I wanted to get a pair but heard the battery longevity wasn’t great? Is that just nonsense?
I used the original beats and beats x, powerbeats. The powerbeats 3 sound great and it's like listening to a stereo with subwoofer. Bass is really controlled. Sound is open. All the Beats products are also on sale and the X and Power Beats are slashed $40.00....through Apple.
Just picked up a pair of Power Beats 3. I don't get the comments that "Beats are crap." Maybe the over ear stuff from like 2012, but these headphones sound great.
powerbeats 3?These look fab. Why aren't they making a true-wireless version of those PowerBeats? I'd buy those in a heartbeat. I'm not buying anything with a cable... otherwise, just plug me in.
