I hope it doesn't suck as much as their way overpriced and bad sounding headphones...

I'm gonna stick with iTunes & spotify anyway.

lol was thinking the same, was going to say, "If its anything like their headphones then its completely overpriced and mediocre.

After using it for a while i can predict this is a serious contender for spotify or rdio. Very sleek and handsome interface with excellent quality of sound. I compare it with spotify on SQ with my iPhone 5S paired with IEM Shure SE530 and i notice a difference in term of sound quality.

Ability to follow the activity of artist and other user is a bonus for me. Remind me of Apple's Ping

Can't wait for the 'audiophiles' to start circling this and start preaching about how bad Beats are ;)

(for the record, no I don't own Beats. I just find it hilarious that people preach about someone spending a lot of money on equipment they enjoy using that isn't technically superior to other products on an Apple forum.)

Wise words :D 100% with you on this.

I heard that there products actually aren't that good. Is that true?

Are there headphones really worth $299-$399?

On to the headphone quality question. Beats are okay but there are much better headphones at the price range. You pay for the endorsement. They might be worth about half the price.

There's zero "wise words" in that statement so why would they care? If you don't understand why people would research the quality of an expensive set of headphones before buying them, it's their loss if they don't and your cluelessness as to why it's a loss seeing as you're so convinced it's "just a logo" if it's Apple, yet a different case entirely if quality and usefulness of a product that's only reason to exist is to provide premium sound quality for a premium price is questioned. Double standards much???

I understand research but I also understand that everyone looks for something different in what they spend their money on and whatever they choose to buy is up to them. Ever think these people may just enjoy the sound signature a pair of Beats have and the look that they have? Not everyone worships blindly at the alter of 'What Hi Fi?' magazine.

Yelling about Beats is just the same as an xbox fanboy yelling about it's superiority over PS4 (or android vs iOS, Apple vs Microsoft etc). And yes, this is a major double standard and lack of understanding on the preachers' part that I'm pointing out. Read your statement again and tell me which bit, if any, is objective and not just your opinion. Specs are one thing. Enjoyment and experience of a product is another. I don't see the point in preaching about brands. It's stupid. Buy whatever the hell you want and enjoy it. Why do people feel the need to preach? Ah, that's right. Because of a need to feel that they are superior to another person. I'm not missing the irony btw. I'm just enjoying and laughing at you all squabbling over VERY shallow things whilst sat a little higher on this horse.

That's nonsense and you know it. They can want the logo all they want, you can deride people making informed buying decisions all you want but it changes nothing and your console analogy is meaningless brand loyalty/preference.

It's funny to me how sad people get about Beats headphones on an Apple forums. Same people who want to bash on Beats for being overpriced are probably the ones in the front row defending Apple products being high priced.

If you don't like them, don't buy them. Why whine about them? If someone else can afford them and wants them because they like the look why does that bother you so much. Just because you are an audiophile does not mean they are. Chances are they downloaded 128kbps mp3s off TPB anyway.

Lot of people don't know about FLAC and lossless audio or high quality headphones. Beats does a great job of advertising and getting popular spokespeople making their products popular. So the majority of people are quicker to gravitate to their products than Bowers & Wilkins, Sennheiser, or Grado.

The fact that so many of you get ******** when you see or hear about Beats is kind of pathetic. If you got burned because you bought a set of their headphones without trying them and want to blame them that is your fault.

I'm not giving this company any more money. I already gave them $200 for a pair of headphones that sound like they are worth $20.

To be fair, they're more like 80 dollar headphones. They're not terrible, they're just not superb all-around headphones with great range. You're paying for the design and the brand, which is fine, some people want to pay for that. Some people also just like Beats distinct sound, which is heavy on the bass. Certainly works well with the target demographic (hip hop and todays pop).

As an audiophile myself, I personally think Beats is great because they've done well at spreading the message of higher quality sound into the mainstream. Most people don't know a thing about audio quality, having a premium brand like Beats in the mainstream which promotes "upgrading" your sound is a good thing, in my opinion at least. Can you get better performing headphones for half the price? Sure. But Sennheiser and others haven't done much in terms of making audio quality a mainstream topic.

Not everyone cares to research and become an expert on audio quality. Your standards doesn't have to translate into others having the same standard. Remember, most people are upgrading from bundled-in earbuds, so yes there is going to be a tremendous difference in audio quality.

And you're not exactly right about their sole purpose being to provide premium sound. Beats are also about the fashion and prestige, and there's nothing wrong with that. Again, Beats have gotten the mainstream to consider even spending any money at all on headphones, which is only a good thing. After people have a good experience with Beats, some of them might start to research more and learn more about audio quality and discover higher quality brands with lower price points, which leads to them buying more headphones from other brands.

Again, the irrational Beats hate from people like you is just silly and childish. I myself am an "audiophile," but I'm certainly not a snob, and can appreciate Beats for what they are.

Valuing fashion and prestige is inherently wrong, encouraging people to spend more money on it is wrong too.

Really annoyed about this. I got an email from MOG/Beats this morning announcing that they're shutting MOG down as of April 15. MOG is the only streaming service that can be controlled through BMW audio controls, so, unless Beats picks up that functionality, this is a big step down in usability for me.

dont understand why people hate on beats or bose. Both great products. Ive owned both, i prefer bose. I really like the beats music app though, Ive been playing with it all morning and so far its pretty nice. Its easy to use and its much more responsive to me than spotify. But seriously, "beats sucks" or "bose sucks" just shut up. Those kind of comments are so pointless and do nothing.

Bass Boost FTW!

:D

It's getting pretty crowded in the music-streaming business. 'Beats' needs a killer feature or an amazing algorithm, or the odds are stacked against them succeeding with this launch.

But I wish them well; competition can only benefit us consumers.

How so? All I see is a similar service at the exact same price.

One word: Collusion.

Wow this is perfect for me. Always wanted a music service that would let me explain what is going on, and would cater tunes to my situation!

Thank you for imposing your set of values on the the rest of us. The world would be a much better place if we would all adopt one set of values.

Beats are $5 headphones that exadurate lows and highs when beats audio is on, and the opposite when it's off. It's a marketing scam. They're not worth $5. I really hope they go bankrupt someday. They're scammers.

Yes, simply saying beats suck does nothing. You have to explain why.

I don't want to use streaming services but I like that selection method (even if it does sound ultra cheesy on that demo image). I hope that's something iTunes will eventually get. Just call it "iTunes Moods" and we can all go home happy.

Do people actually do that? That's proper daft!
