So I got Beats Tour headphones from a nearby Apple Store and the headphones were great. Then 10 days into having them, the volume buttons would not work. The play/pause button work and the sound quality was unaffected. I tried it on my iPhone 6 Plus, then my iPhone 5, iPad mini and MacBook. All of which did not work when it came to using the volume buttons. The odd thing is that the volume buttons will work again after a day of no use. So I returned it for a new pair. 6 days later the same issue happened but it didn't "re-fix" itself a day later. This time I tried another pair of headphones to see if it were somehow a problem with my iPhone. The volume buttons worked fine on my other headphones. I plugged my Beats headphones back in and no luck. The volume buttons were still unusable. So today I returned it and talked to someone at the Genius Bar. Of course they said the problem could be the fact that my iPhone is jailbroken. (Which is BS since the same thing happened with the other iDevices I said before). So now I have my third set and hopefully third times the charm.

As for what I do with the headphones, I mainly use it for working out. The only "extreme" activity I do is running on the treadmill. They don't get pulled or rough handling.

Have you guys experienced this with the Beats Tour

the tours came with crappy quality, if anything get some klipsch s4i, to me they sound better and have more bass and i love beats! i have the studio and solo2 wireless. klipsch wins in the sound department tho

i don't think the beats tour are sweat proof. maybe because you're getting sweat on them. i use the EarPods that came with my iPhone for the gym and they do get abused. they are good enough for me at the gym and if they do break or buttons don't work, i'll just bring it into a apple store and get a new set.

Good point, but the only thing that gets exposed to sweat are the ear cups (I also have the "wingtip" attached). Do you think that alone could be the main cause?

hard to tell as i'm giving my best guess. can't tell unless you bring it to a tech and they open it up and tell you.

i remember my old pair of EarPods had a similar issue where the buttons would not respond and a couple days later they would work. these also, when spinning the tip while they were inserted into the headphone jack of the phone, they would cut one side out completely or made static sounds.

maybe you just got a defective batch of earbuds.

Same thing here but i am using the power beats

The first set started to sound muddy and the volume controls stopped working. I returned them and got a new set and the same thing happened. The volume controls stopped working. The play/pause button works.

Never again am i purchasing garbage beats. You would think for the price they ask they would be build using much better quality.

Good to hear you returned them. Slowly more and more people are realising that beats are overpriced garbage. :p

Anyone panicking and reading this who's volume control and playback controls just stopped working, try restarting your apple device, I did it and thankfully they started working

Same here. Use my PowerBeats3 while working out and the controls stopped working after 2 weeks. Also have constant Bluetooth problems. Songs skipping, stopping, unintentional activation of voice control, sound volume issues etc etc.

Had high hopes after Apple taking over Beats but the product quality/price ratio is just unacceptable.

BTW, the iPhone built quality also leaves a lot to be desired...
