For the non-desk users what you place your MacBook on when using it on your lap? I plan to use a pillow till I get a laptop lap pad

Pillow isn't the best idea. It blocks ventilation from the fan and causes excess heat build up. I'd grab a book that you could set it on. Personally I have one that's just called the original lap desk. It's comfortable to use and has plenty of space, and I think I got it at best buy.

I use a macbook air but same concept. I use a binder :p I put the side with the rings away from me so it is elevated. The binder is flat, cheap, and provides ventilation

I use this and it's very nice. I didn't want a fan so I got one with no fans.

I bought mine on sale at target for around $12 which was very nice.
