Bed/couch users what tray/pad/lap stand you use?

For the non-desk users what you place your MacBook on when using it on your lap? I plan to use a pillow till I get a laptop lap pad

Pillow isn't the best idea. It blocks ventilation from the fan and causes excess heat build up. I'd grab a book that you could set it on. Personally I have one that's just called the original lap desk. It's comfortable to use and has plenty of space, and I think I got it at best buy.

I use a macbook air but same concept. I use a binder 😛 I put the side with the rings away from me so it is elevated. The binder is flat, cheap, and provides ventilation

I use this and it's very nice. I didn't want a fan so I got one with no fans.

normally its on my stomach in bed laying down. if i move positions and put it on the bed, i have a nice hard backed book to sit on thats bigger than the body of my 13''

No, it doesn't. The only way you'd block ventilation is if you covered the back vent. The ability to block the rear vent is not unique to pillows.
