Isthis compatible w/ a Mac?

Any more info/help would be great! You guys have been a BIG help and have lifted a huge weight from off of me and I'm starting to learn something here!!! Thanks so much!!!!

As to your other questions, I did not take the time to look at your ebay links.
Why? You need to much more research yourself before buying too many things. You don't yet have enough understanding what to buy and why.

For example, your link to the processor is for an AMD. No, you cannot use that with your Mac or any Mac ever created. For older Macs (PowerPC) you can only upgrade using processor upgrades made by a few specific manufacturers that make Mac upgrade processors. Some examples include Sonnet, OWC, PowerLogix, FastMac, and Gigadesigns. A good place to go to get an idea what upgrading a G4 would cost would be here:

http://eshop.macsales.com/MyOWC/Upg...ype=Processor&TI=5455&shoupgrds=Show+Upgrades
(but keep in mind that every model of G4 is potentially different. There are families of the same type but the upgrades are not necessarily cross-family compatible) To select your model, go here:

And you do not get automatic increases in performance based on clock speed. There are too many variables for that.
Thanks for the help! Hey, I didn't say I knew it all. The knowledge I have now is enough to fill a thimble. Rather then sit back oblivious to it all I figured I'd get some advise on here. The journey of a life time begins w/ the first step. I asked cause I don't know and I was at work and couldn't research it any further at the time. I figured someone on here could look at it right away and know the deal. Thanks for the links!!

Yeah I thought about that, but 1.I'm short on cash. and 2. I've read you can save a lot of money by upgrading your old mac. Of course it wouldn't be as fast as a new one...but still...wouldn't I make out better that way, rather than shelling out thousands of $$$$ for a pretty new one?

the 2 Cores in the intel will be faster than the G4

Okay, I just checked one of your ebay links. The one for the SATA hard drive. No, you can't use that. SATA is not compatible with a G4 without a SATA controller card (which you certainly could purchase and use). The standard hard drive for a G4 is PATA or also known as IDE. Almost all hard drives sold anywhere these days that do NOT say SATA on them are the PATA drives.

Problem sovled (for now). I have a G4 MDD coming that someone in my family is giving me. Not sure on the specs, but he told me it was a lot faster then my current G4. Honestly, I can't swing a new G5. They're so much faster and better, etc, etc...I know, I know. Funds are tight. Sorry Mr. Jobs!! Maybe later...

Excellent. Good work on acquiring a MDD G4 - it's going to make computing a lot more comfortable. Just remember when you get your new machine, you can hook the two G4s together and use migration assistant or target disk mode to transfer all your applications and files across to the new machine.

Aww nice! Didn't know about that. I'll be looking into that when it gets here and I get it all set up. Thanks!! Yeah, I'm looking forward to getting my new machine! I've had the old one for SO long now...

Dude. Before you go any further, please consult a dictionary. Look up advise and then advice.

I think I've got a way for your to keep your old G4 humming along nicely!

Buy a Mini and stick it inside the G4's case. Voila. Great instant upgrade!
