I believe beejive picture support is coming if I'm not mistaken. Also MC does NOT support their own SMS push notification. They just tap into AIM's SMS notification for just that protocol. And even that doesn't work. Beejive supports their own SMS/Email notification for all protocols. As far as price it'S totally worth it IMHO. It's already half the price of it's BB counterpart. I really don't think Beejive would drop the price of their app/service to $5 to cater to kids with paper routes.
That's good news, if that's coming in the next release. Once they add some of those smaller (but important) features, I think it'll be more worth the cost than it currently is... although I still stand by it being a bit too expensive.
You have a good point about MobileChat just tapping into AIM's SMS function. But on the same token, if it's nothing they're hosting themselves, that's even more of a reason why BeeJive should already have it. Of course, once Apple stops screwing around and releases 2.2 (or whichever update it'll be) with push notifications, that will be irrelevant since they'll be implementing that (at least, they should.. they'd be fools not to).
As for the comment about it not being lowered to $5 to cater to kids with paper routes. I'll assume you meant this generically and not directed at me- besides, I'm not a kid with a paper route; I have a full-time job and make pretty decent money. I'm just careful with my money and do what I can to get the biggest bang for my buck.
It's not about catering to kids or poor people anyway. I actually find the whole argument that "you spent $xx on an iPhone and a monthly plan, so a $16 app is nothing in comparison". It's irrelevant what you're paying for the phone. The app is overpriced, simple as that. Not everyone is ok with getting financially raped and finding ways to justify it.
