....And don't know how to make it stop. Went to the Java site, have the newest version, yada yada yada. I'm running El Capitan public beta, but this has been popping up since Yosemite. Any ideas?

It's a little frustrating as there are two different versions/types of Java. You've got the browser version, and the SDK. So, please could you try downloading and installing this one, restarting your computer, and advise if it resolves the issue?

Edit: Link seems a bit hiccupy. It's this one here.

EDIT 2: the direct download link still doesn't work, because you have to accept the T&Cs before. We'll have to do this the long winded way. God I hate Java.

    1) Go to

    2) Click 'Accept License Agreement' and click the download for Mac OS X x64.

    3) Restart.

Does it fix the issue please?

Got it, D/L'd it and installed. Thanks for the help. I'll let you know if it works in a couple of days. The pop up was intermittent, and could go for a day or so without seeing it, then it would pop up 4 times in an hour. I'll report back as soon as I think it's fixed. (or not!)
    Thanks again.
