Funny but people hangout or work at Starbucks because they're lonely or their home is too depressing. :( Well, that's my observation anyhow.

While I understand the use case described (ie iPad as a second monitor) I do NOT envy you guys carrying around all that guck. I mean jeez I've made it a primary goal - and have pretty much achieved it - of using my iPad and only my iPad, for pretty much everything.

Exactly. My goal is to have the least amount of bulk & weight to tote around, not to increase it.

So often on this forum you come across people don't seem to be able to imagine any way of doing things other than their way of doing things. Any weird and wonderful combination of devices and screens will likely be the best combination for somebody, somewhere.;)
It's not just this forum and it's not just iPads. It's every forum out there. No forum is immune from users with tunnel vision.

It's this lack of ability to conceive of other perspectives, needs, wants, etc that I truly find to be the odd trend.

...and they don't envy you with just one screen. To each his own.

… been hanging out at Starbucks a lot lately
So are you lonely or is your home depressing? Or both? I'd be depressed if I had to drink the espresso at Starbucks.

.

Exactly. The way people sling opinions around in forums as if they are indisputable facts is silly.

For some, the freedom of extreme light weight and mobility, a single screen, and some functionality sacrifices is well worth the trade off. For others, they wouldn't trade their own solution in the world. Jeez I know some people who carry around a MBP, iPad, digital camera, and iPhone all day every day. For me, that's insane. But have at it as far as I'm concerned :)

I was a barista for 2 years at an indie coffee shop. I had my fill of organic Sumatra on a manual machine to last me the rest of my life.

Home is lonely and depressing.
