Easy answer send it back and get a silver model, or just wipe it down. Nature of the beast, darker colour's will show the likes of finger prints far more.Just got my brand new Macbook Air M2 in Midnight blue. What an awesome computer. I'm upgrading from a MBA Intel i5. The keyboard is astounding. The screen, just perfect. The keyboard? An absolute joy to type on. I am so in love with this computer.
Except one thing......My god, the fingerprints! I read a lot about this as I waited the nearly 4 weeks for my order to come in. I was worried and determined to not be so sensative to any finger prints I might see. But good lord, after just 2 days my laptop looks like it was handle by a guy who worked 8 hours behind a deep fryer. Fingerprints everywhere on this thing! Very very unsightly. And I am a habitual hand washer, so am quite a clean person. At least I thought I was. Now I might have to switch brands of soap.
I'm very surprised that Apple let a computer like this out the door. There must be a better way to make a color like this. This looks like a poorly thought out idea. When people talk about fingerprints on this color laptop, believe it!
I'm really on the fence with keeping this laptop. I equipped it very well, wanting to keep it for the next 5-7 years at least (24gb RAM 1 TB hard drive).
Arrrghhh!
I haven’t used the MagSafe port. The rear USB-C port is the one I use most and it has a couple of nicks. The other port is still unmarked. If tiny nicks in the color coat bother you, don’t get the Midnight color.I know the finger prints are there but how are people’s ports holding up? I’ve had mine for a little over a week and all poets and MagSafe have marks and I’ve been careful. Worries about the longer term and what the ports will look like…

So picked mine up yesterday afternoon. Few smudges after a day of use today, but, nothing to be concerned about. Its a great color as long as it is not 'linty' and covered with chocolate or something, it will be fine.
Last guy I used it on though, left stains all over my swordSupposedly Apple is now working on
Smudge Proof metal made of Valerian Steel.

TBH there are people in this world who are struggling to feed their children, just return the Mac and order colour way that does not pick up finger prints. I get OCD and I suffer with it myself, equally common sense should be applied...
Q-6
Never understood people who use a reference like that in an apple forum to begin with as they most likely typed that out on their expensive apple product lol.Ah, the old starving children argument. one step above equating something to hitler.

haha, yup. Typing this out while "glamping" in my 30" trailer on my new m2 air. I must be so ashamed of myselfYep. Using the starving children argument I should have kept my i5 MacBook Air. It worked fine but was annoying to use. I also should have a beater car in the garage instead of a BMW.
The answer to that question, "how do you know somebody drives a BMW?"instead of a BMW
But seriously, is nobody willing to try some wax if they really can’t stand the smudges? The idea is that the wax would fill the uneven surface, then buff down with a microfiber so that the layer is thin enough to not smear. Let the wax dry and now it will either repel fingerprints completely, or the smooth surface will be extremely easy to wipe clean.
Wax would not necessarily make things shiny, sticky or slippery.
I’m planning on trying—I’m doing research now.

I would stay away from the “diamond” or “ceramic” coatings people call wax. Real wax can be removed completely with simple harmless solvents. The others would be a nightmare.
