Hi all,

There have been a number of instances where I have an Apple Watch (Ultra) connected and charging then put on my iPhone in Apple Official Leather Case (Dark Green if anyone is interested) but it doesn't recognise the phone, no animation on the screen like usual and no charge.

I have also tried this with no Apple Watch, AirPods on or off the bottom charge section and the iPhone still won't charge.

The only way I can get it to work is to unplug the charger, wait around 10 seconds and plug it back in. Then the phone vibrates, screen animation plays and the charging starts.

I don't have another MagSafe charger, or another phone with MagSafe to see if the root cause is the phone or charger.

Does anyone have any bugs with the below charger and their iPhone 14 Pro?

I have the Belkin 2-in-1 version (https://www.belkin.com/2-in-1-wirel...h-official-magsafe-charging-15w/P-WIZ010.html) and have had this happen with my iPhone 14 Pro. One time when this happened, I tried putting my phone on the lower charger, more typically used for my AirPods Pro, and the phone also wasn’t recognized there. Unplugging from the power outlet and plugging in again solve the problem, until it happened again in a week or so. I haven’t contacted Belkin, although it should still be under warranty - it’s only happened a few times, and I haven’t been up for dealing with “can you reproduce the problem?”, since it is unpredictable. So I don’t have any solution, but you’re not alone . .

Mine seems to happen 2-3 times a week. It is annoying. I have used this every night since the 14 pro launched so mine is definitely in warranty. Thinking of contacting them too.

Besides the issue the OP mentioned, I've also had the 2-in-1 charger apparently either lost connection to power or to the phone briefly - my phone will display the animation as if I had just put it on the MagSafe charger, even though it's been on the charger for hours. It's especially annoying since I only charger overnight, and the noise will wake me up. Since my charger is still under warranty, I submitted a RMA request on the Belkin site. Less than a day later, I have a tracking number for a replacement. No request to return the charger I have now, which makes me think this must be a common problem. Maybe the replacement won't be any better, but at least I won't be out any money to give it a try.

I've been having issues with this charger (iPhone 14 Pro Max here with a Spigen MagSafe case), and opened a support ticket with Belkin. They said:

"Thank you for your recent contact with Belkin support.

We identified an issue with the MagSafe wireless charger for the phone, and our engineering team is already aware of the issues reported by our customers and is currently investigating it."

I've actually been able to return it to Amazon for a refund, even though I bought it 6 months ago, as I talked to an Amazon rep on chat and confirmed that Belkin had identified an issue.

So slightly off topic, but what other 3-in-1 charger would people recommend? I don't trust Belkin now, as I had their 3-in-1 (the cheaper, non-MagSafe version) fail as well a couple of months after purchase. I got the MagSafe 3-in-1 to replace that one!

I’ve had a ticket open on Belkin and they’ve just confirmed a replacement under warranty. Mines not happened since, so will end up with 2 of these as they don’t require the other unit to be collected.

I personally don’t think there are any on the market as aesthetically pleasing as the Belkin though. But there are plenty of others that are reputable. I guess if you make it onto the apple store you’ve got to be decent enough.

edit- just tried to charge tonight and had to unplug and plug back in to get the MagSafe to work. Fortunately my replacement is coming tomorrow.

My main requirement for the charger is to have the Apple Watch within reach, as I often tap it in the night to see the time. A lot of 3-in-1 or 2-in-1 chargers have the watch at the back behind the phone, where it can't really be used in nightstand mode.

The thing with the Belkin charger is that I'm not sure how safe it is, so do I want to just get another and try again? The non-MagSafe Belkin 3-in-1 I had developed the "cricket noise" issue with the wall plug (which was a bit alarming, because you don't want the power source to start making odd noises!), and was RMAed. The replacement unit hasn't had that issue and still works (my wife uses it).

But with this one... is it a loose connection or something that could cause it to overheat and be dangerous?

I have the Belkin 3in1 and every few weeks I have to unplug it from the wall and plug it back in as sometimes it just starts refusing to charge stuff. I should have returned it when I had the chance lol.

I’ve been having the same issue for the past few weeks. I’ve had it for a year now. I bought it at Costco and I’m thinking of returning it, and just buy an extra cable for My Watch to charge it.

It’s annoying because the old 2in1 Belkin I had for 5 years never had any problems. I thought I was upgrading but clearly not lol.

I submitted a claim through Belkin this morning. I checked my purchases on Costco, and it’s been less than a year since I purchased it. I’m not buying another Belkin product again. This has left a bad taste in my mouth.

I ended up getting a Mophie 3-in-1 from Apple, which so far has been great (the unit actually uses an Apple charging puck for the phone charging station, so I figured that part at least should be reliable!).

Meanwhile, Belkin have decided to send me a replacement! Which I didn't ask for. Oh well. eBay?

I have the 2 in 1 and the phone charges fine, but the airpods do not. Belkin are sending a replacement this week but I doubt they'll be a fix if they've only just identified there's an issue.

Hopefully it's software rather than hardware.

Had the same issue with my 14 PM and the first gen belkin 3 in 1 charger.

This started after one of the iOS updates a few weeks ago.

It would not charge when I put the phone on before bed. Disconnecting and reconnecting the cable helps.

But the next morning when I checked the battery graph, it would show constant disconnections and reconnections (not one continuous charge and optimised charging stopped working).

I have since sold my 14 PM and using a 12 mini and this charger in the home office. And it seems to have stopped.

So does this only affect the 14 series?

I don't know, but Belkin's support email to me says:

>>

Thank you for your recent contact with Belkin support.

We identified an issue with the MagSafe wireless charger for the phone, and our engineering team is already aware of the issues reported by our customers and is currently investigating it. In the meantime, please provide the answers to the following questions below and please try the workaround below. Let us know the result and your observations.

1. When did the issue start?
2. What is the make and model of the phone you're using? What is the iOS version?
3. Have you tried to isolate it by using a different phone? What is the make and model of the iOS version of the different phone?
4. Is there a phone case on your phone? Have you tried charging without a phone case?
5. Have you tried to restart the phone and charge it again?
6. Have you tried to plug the wireless charger into a different wall outlet?
7. Have you tried to charge the phone on the base charging pad of the AirPods?

Workaround:
1. Unplug the power adapter from the wall outlet while it is still connected to the charger.
2. Allow at least 1 minute to pass, and then disconnect the adapter from the charging dock.
3. Allow at least 1 more minute to pass, and then connect the power adapter back to the dock and plug it back in.

This suggests it affects all phones, as it can't just be people with a 14 PM reporting it.

Thanks for sharing this! I’m not sure I follow you though, I can not see where they are suggesting anything, just asking openly what phone you have…? They might have their suspicions on something but they do not reveal anything in their questions?

Oh I just meant it can't all just be iPhone 14PM users reporting the issue. Before they sent me that email, they didn't know what kind of phone I had, but they say they have identified an issue.

Incidentally, the non-Magsafe Belkin 3-in-1 that my wife uses - that has already been RMAed due to a fault power supply - has just started to have the same problem. The power supply begins to chirp like crickets, and gets very hot.

I'm not sure I can trust Belkin QC after this!

Ok got ya! Yes kind of worrying, need to keep a good watch on my 3in1 MagSafe!

I had the mat version of this and it made my AirPods case and AirPods themselves get extremely hot. YMMV but i would not recommend the boost charge pro personally.

Wish I’d read this before ordering mine which arrives tomorrow. For those of you with issues are you using the second generation of the Belkin?
