Everyone saying AppleCare Plus removes the need for a screen protector are forgetting about scratches that can occur in your pockets seemingly out of nowhere. Litttle pieces of dust and sand, they’ve scratched every iPhone I own to date. I can’t bring myself to ruin the actual iPhone X screen, so I think I will get a screen protector.
I think the reason people are saying it makes no sense with AppleCare plus is why waste $40 on a protector if you can replace the entire screen for $29 at any time if it gets damaged or even scratched more than you would like? Most likely you will not need more than 2 screen replacements that are offered- although I guess for some people that aren't as careful that's an option- but even so you can use the protector only after 2 replacements. There's also the point that so many people use some kind of "upgrade" program now and no longer have to worry about resale value and just give in the phone every year. The actual glass screen protector will get scratched just as much, if not more, than the actual glass of the iphone... so really either way you will be looking at light surface scratches on the phone whether it's the actual screen or a covering right over the screen. I have used a few different kind of protectors before- and between perfect alignment/coverage & dust getting stuck on the edges from putting in your pocket, they all take away from the enjoyment of the screen at LEAST a little and bother me as much or more than some small surface scratches do. That is my take at least.
