Is it possible to benchmark only read speed without write speed? Blackmagic forces us to write 1 GB before benchmarking read speed and thus cause SSD wear and tear. http://hints.macworld.com/article.php?story=20120704113548693 does not work (at the very least I don't think it works in Mavericks - its says testfile could not be found or something like that). Are there any alternatives?

Why would you want to run a benchmark application so much that it could possibly increase the write cycles? I ran black magic once or twice on my internal drive and that's all I needed to do.

I'd say as long as you're not running the benchmark software for hours on end, its ok.
