I found a benchmark program called Xbench. When I ran it I was getting low hard drive scores. After checking the FAQ I found there was a statement about making sure there were no backround processes accessing the hard drive, how do I do that? Also, are there other benchmark programs out there I could use to check the functionality of my Macbook?

BTW, I get really good scores when I turn off the HD test and the Open GL test.

I don't know about other tests, but you can use Activity Monitor to see what processes are running and how much CPU/memory is being used. You can quit them with it too.

I don't know about other benchmark programs, but my MacBook scored just above 100 points. I did it a few times with everything checked and I scored anywhere between 105-118 points. I think that is damn good, based on what they say.
