So it’s been revealed that the iPhone 12 US has an extra antenna “window” on the right hand side, to allow for mmwave tech.

I am calling it right now - this will cause structural issues leading to a new bend gate. This little window looks exactly like the ones used on the iPad for the magnetic connector. Jerryrigeverything, the YouTube guy, has bent multiple iPads with that same little window over the past few years. It hasn’t been solved to this point and I doubt it will in the 12.
Granted the window is not right in the middle, which may help.

not that it really matters. Plenty of people will be able to rock these without bending them, just figured I’d call it now before the madness arrives.

Bendgate 2 (if you're right).

We've already done this before with the iPhone 6/6+, Bendgate 1.

Doubt it. That is so overblown. Family and I have had about every years iPhone and have never seen that.

That whole bendgate was/is such a stupid topic in the first place. I'm sure it all started by some 350lb overweight slob that sat on a wooden bar stool and forgot he/she their iPhone in their back pocket. Of course it bent and somehow or another that was Apple's fault.

So you’re a structural engineer?

You should prob contact Apple directly. Ask to speak to a senior director or higher. Alert them to this issue.

Not going to happen. The entire body is a metal frame reinforced by front and back glass. The iPhone 6 and iPad are only made out of one thin layer of aluminum.

Don’t disagree. Just saying dumb people will make it an issue. Like i said from the start, i dont think its a real issue.

I think the new phones will be fine structurally. it’s interesting though that they’re returning to a thinner form factor. Seems like a U turn in design. The 11 pro had a depth of 8.1 mm. This new 12 pro will be 7.4 mm. That’s .1 mm thinner than the 8 plus and .1 mm thicker than a 7 plus. The regular 11 last year was a pig 🐷 at 8.3 mm
