Okay first report of Apple rejecting warranty claim on clearly user accidental inflicted damaged. Wonder about the two in the topic started here, have they talked to Apple yet?

Can we please stop calling it a gate? God that term is infuriating. Not to mention the first time it was used for an Apple issue, the intention was derogatory: to indicate that people were maybe making a big deal out of something that wasn't.

I think the intention was to gain people's attention to a widespread problem Apple and followers were trying to minimize. Hence, antennagate was born. It empowered people suffering from it by giving it an identity. Soon, the term spread and began being used by the mainstream media. Mission accomplished.

Hey OP is it going mainstream this like ?

Oh wait.......

Considering it was Steve Jobs coining the term, specifically to downplay the controversy as overblown, the intention was actually the opposite.

It empowered people suffering from it by giving it an identity.

Really? Exactly how did that mythical "empowerment" work for people? They got a free case. Big whoop.

Term is a farce and an annoyance.

I don't think this is really a pocketable device. You can't expect to carry it that way just like you can't expect to carry an iPad in your pant pockets.

I have always carried my iphone in my front pocket starting with the 3g, 4, 5, and now 6+. I have never had a single issue, bend or otherwise. So far my 6+ has fit properly in all of my typical clothing including jeans. I don't anticipate any issues.

COME ON people...

Just because something CAN happen, doesn't mean it's an "issue". While I seriously doubt the veracity of the "loose front pocket" claims, I am sure that under extreme circumstances it could happen.

The reality is, for 99.9% of people, it WON'T.

There is no "problem". If there was, there would be thousands of reports of bending phones. There's not. Not even hundreds. Dozens? Maybe. But out of millions of phones, taking into account the probability of a lot being lies too, means it's in NO way "widespread" or an epidemic of even minor proportions.

If you bent your phone, I feel bad for you. You did it. Not Apple. You can cry, and feel bad about it, but just because something breaks doesn't mean it's automatically someone else's fault.

Take it to Apple, plead your case, and maybe they'll take pity on you for breaking your phone and help you out. They NEVER promised it would be indestructible, they also never promised how much stress it could take. I know it can handle a LOT, but there's always some idiot out there that's going to push the envelope anyway...

Then they blame Apple. It's not about common sense, it's about taking responsibility for your OWN damage. If you want a sturdier phone, there are plenty you could sit on all day. The 6 is not on the list. If you need a disclaimer to tell you that... well, I think that speaks for itself.

This is one of the reasons to get AppleCare+. It includes 2 replacements due to accidental damage for a $79 fee. I always get it for my iPhone's and iPad's.

I think these people are flat out lying. If anyone has paid attention to pictures of the bent models, they are bent exactly in the center. Nobody's ass is that rigid to where it's going to bend the phone in the center like that when you sit down.

Actually they're bent at either the sim card tray or the volume buttons, which are both weak points in the side walls and the same places 5/5S bends occurred (generally from sitting on them, which I think we can all agree is force beyond normal usage).

I'm not saying this is actually a serious issue or that the people who've done it didn't do something beyond normal use (I have no data on that one way or the other), but the bend points we've seen are definitely at identifiable weak points.

Unbelieveable how people would try to deface apple like this. Because it's the most popular and superior device on the planet and yet all these hating people come out and spew fud. Where are the moderators? Delete all these junk threads about bending iPhones.

I own hands down the best iPhone on the planet and all you have to do if you feel insecure about your own device is don't put it in your pockets. Doesn't it seem logical?

Antenna gate was same FUD as well: just don't hold it that way and voila, no issues.

Tips for wearing your iPhone in the pocket.

Place the glass surface towards your leg, vertically.

1. Glass does not compress.
2. With more metal of the solid back, there will be less likelihood of stretching the metal and bending toward the glass.

When bending toward the back, you only have two 6mm rails to keep it from bending.

If it bends, wear it differently.
