Fancy way of calling the 13" Macbook that was made out of aluminum before Apple renamed the entire line to be "Macbook Pros". I personally think calling it a 'collector's edition' is a bit much, but whatever.

It only has the 9400M card.

Thanks. I actually prefer this model to the new monicer "Pro" with the SD read/write card slot: to me that is not useful.

I'm now beginning to see Late 2008 MB 13" Unibody's going for $950/1000 CAN which is just a bit too much. I like the ability to replace my battery. This whole Apple will replace my battery incurs way too much expense with shipping to the USA and back again along with the wait - since this MB I upgrade to will be my primary and soon only machine for 9mths.

PS I have it listed in my sig as a reminder it soon will be mine ;) .

If OpenCL takes off, we might all be wishing we had the 9600M... well, I do have it. ;)

I think that will likely be the great factor in favor of the 9600M (and other discrete graphics) in the future.

You don't have to ship it. We got 5 Apple Stores in the Toronto Area. Just go in and gt it done.

Does the 9600M GT make any difference when playing HD video, especially things like MLB.TV and NFL Gamepass HD? I know connection speed is a bigger factor with these.
The 9400M seems to run them fine, but was just curious. Obviously I've tried it, but can't notice any difference. Maybe less demading?

When you play Flash video (like mlb.tv), right click -> Settings and select "Disable Hardware Acceleration"... see if you notice a difference in playback ( I haven't done this test yet ).

If you have to ask about how the 9600M GT will benefit you, most likely you don't need it.

It's faster, uses it's own VRAM, runs hotter, and uses more power.

The 9400M is a pretty decent GPU, it's not going to play Crysis on high settings but for most computer users, it will be more than enough. Half my friends could be satisfied with 9400M, even though it carries the integrated GPU moniker.

With that being said, I went for the option for having 2 graphics cards (9400M + 9600M GT) because I need that extra power. Most people don't.
