Just to let you guys know - I‘m going to return (and not get a new one) my 12.9“ LTE model in January because of the bend, even if it is not that obvious. If we pay 1.000 $ /1.000 € + for a device I don’t expect but REQUIRE those devices to be of high build quality. Sorry Apple, was always siding with you. But those literally insane prices (iPad + ASK + Pencil) paired with this issue is a no-go (at least for me). One would think that they have QC and people who use prototypes in real world usage, so I‘m surprised this has not been found out and addressed earlier. We all know those high margins on apple products, so I’m confident to say that we can expect quality. TL,DR: Voting with my wallet, which others should do, too. Hope I can encourage them.

(Need to find a new laptop/tablet now )

EDIT: had a chat with apple support yesterday. I asked the support guy if an exchange with a new unit was possible - Reply: only with AppleCare+ (which I understand). Next, I asked if AppleCare would be covering a bent iPad - Reply: Nobody really knows this as of right now, but it seems that a deductible would be due to replace those iPads. That’s what ultimately got me to the decision to return and not get a new one. Definitely not going to pay for a (factory-) bent iPad on normal usage.

I thought a person had 14 days to decide if to return or not?

100% agree

If I bought a product and it was bent out of the box, I’d return it. Otherwise, I’m inclined to believe it was accidentally bent. I still can’t see how these things are just bending without any sort of legitimate pressure.

These things are leaving the factory warped and bent. This is ALL on Apple and its current shoddy quality standards.

My 11" (non-LTE) has no bend. I don't baby it, but I keep it in the keyboard folio case even in my backpack which has a 15" MacBook Pro and several reference books usually.

That said, this "feels" cheaper than prior iPads I've owned. It also feels WAY flimsier than my wife's Surface Pro 5.

Yea, I get that some are bent. If that's the case, you return it. It's obviously not all of them. From what I have seen, the 12.9 LTE model is the primary suspect.

Picture in link below!! F Apple
I’ve treated this thing like a baby, never in a bag, carried everywhere, and keyboard case from day 1. Apple, this is ********. And I just saw it and it’s past 14 days now.
What can I do? See picture, it’s bent right at the antenna line from the factory.

i jyst hacked you drobbox akkount and PS altered all your bent photos, and aligned them perfectly, yee can tank me later!

I ordered and received another iPad Pro 11", and the top and bottom of the device show the same exact slight crookedness as with the first one. I also went to the Apple Store to checkout the display models, which I soon realized were all WiFi only (which makes sense). Some were perfectly straight, some had very slight curves like the LTE models, but the lack of the LTE line made it either less noticeable, or less severe.

I noticed that the 12.9" models felt a bit too flexible and 'soft' (for lack of a better term) in the middle, and they had more of that display tap (from the back) screen ripple than the 11" models (but saw it on all models). But it's such an awesome size and feels really good in the hands, just not for me as I am not a table/desktop iPad user.

So, it looks like this is 'just the way they are' until Apple corrects the assembly issue, if they ever see this as an issue, that is. Again, I don't think these 'bends' are happening after they are made, but while they are made, because the devices are solid, and you cannot straighten them if you tried with a decent amount of pressure as I mentioned in my initial post. That's why I refer to this as more of a crooked chassis issue, as they weren't straight, then somehow got bent in transit, or whatever.

The good news is, the display in this new iPad Pro that I got has no dark corners (didn't think that was possible) and has a much more even white-balance than my first one, which I thought was pretty good compared to some of the display models I've seen. The contrast is also richer, with slightly deeper blacks on this new one. The power and volume buttons are also tighter with nice feedback, something I didn't realize my first one was lacking. I should note that these iPad Pros come from different factories - if that means anything.

So, I am torn... I don't know if this is a keeper. What I do know for sure is, the Apple Device Lottery is alive and well, and it's not just limited to the display. I may just keep it as I am on a yearly upgrade (option) program with my carrier, so I'll most likely get the latest version if Apple improves it next year. I have two weeks to think about it.

The first thing I did when I opened my 12.9 Monday was check for a bend. Sure enough it was bent. Mailed it back yesterday (for a variety of reasons, not the bend). FWIW my OG iPad Air had a slight concave bend but it was very subtle, not nearly as much as this one. Not planning on buying another one, especially at the current pricing.

So first were told we are holding it wrong, and now your telling us we’re looking at it wrong?

LOL

Who told you you're holding it wrong? I think they are just saying it's hard to tell from a picture. Looks slightly concave to me, but mine sort of did as well until I placed multiple straight edges to it, no bend.

Mine looks fine to me but different angles can make you 2nd guess yourself

Mines exactly like that as well, appears straight until you look at it at that angle. I’m sure it’s a trick of the eye more than anything. Really not worried about it at all.
Think more than anything these reports makes us paranoid. Without threads like this I wouldn’t even be looking at it from different angles

Amazing what the mind does to you and makes you think
