Note that Apple increased the display size with the 3rd generation with video support.Just like the iPod nano that didn't support Video,
We are not talking about an entirely different OS. We are talking about cramming in existing apps into a smaller display ("a smaller iphone and that's it").
Bigger's not the problem, smaller is. It's like running an OS on better hardware and worse hardware.Apple could then quickly release a new iPhone in a few years where the screen was slightly bigger.
They all have the same display size. They certainly have the OS working on two iPhones and two iPod touch devices with updates being released simultaneously.
Simple logic, not "nothing." This is not a software problem, this is a fundamental issue concerning finger size and GUI elements. May I bring up the PowerBook G5 again?what exactly are you basing this on?
I don't think everything can be modified…and even if it can, the user experience won't be as good. And I'm not sure Apple wants to do that.Don't you think that the software can be modified to accommodate a smaller screen? like for example two columns of apps instead of 4 per page.
Yes. Think "iPhone Air" instead of "iPhone nano."think different.
