Looking to buy a quality 24 inch monitor to attach my 15' rMBP to. I would like to spend less than 200 dollars.

Seconding the Dell u2412M.

Keep an eye out for Dell deals. I've seen it go for as low as $229 at times which, while being $29 above your ceiling, is an absolute bargain.

My brother bought this one for my rMBP and it worked pretty well while I had it.

HP 23bw

It's a really good IPS monitor, a bit barebones in terms of ports and 1" smaller than 24 but it does have HDMI. The great thing about it is that it goes on sale, very often, for $169.00. You really can't beat it at that price, but you do have to wait for it to go on sale.

I've since moved onto a Dell U2913WM, and I would recommend any of the recent Dells to anyone but you can't go wrong with a $170 IPS monitor branded by a major US company w/ warranty.

Added $50 to your budget and go with a 24'' Dell Ultrasharp. Very high quality. One of the best monitors on the market.

Agreed. I have one, and it's great. Also has displayport, so you don't have to buy a dvi adapter. Just have to buy a displayport to mini-displayport cord. That'll save you about $20 over needing to buy a dvi adapter from apple to run a cheaper monitor.
