I am going to pick up this set. Nice find. Good deal. I have been waiting for ram to go down in price to get an 8gb set for my macbook pro. $135 shipped to me. Nice!

D'oh!

I just bought OWC's 8GB upgrade for $194.99 (on sale from $199, previously $219).

Then again, a year ago such an upgrade was $650, so either way I won't complain too much...

Now if only I can get my bootcamp partition moved... :)

With the lower ram prices, hopefully you will soon be able to get 8GB from Apple as a 200.00 upgrade when you order new macbook pro.

That's a stupdendous buy!

Almost irresistible; however, if you have a mission critical Macbook Pro, it might be a good idea to read the reviews over the past six months.

A disturbingly high percentage of orders had to get shipped back to Newegg for memory errors.

I read through the reviews, and almost pushed the button, but the last complaint sent me back to Crucial for my (much more expensive) order.

G.Skill is an okay brand - there are far worse; when I bought PCs I tended to gravitate toward them (but used Corsair for my main PC of the time). I never had problems... but that was then... 18+ months ago...

I know OWC rebrands another brand of RAM, but - and maybe this is just the marketing affecting my judgment - I'd rather stick with an Apple-centric brand and not take potshot guesses and hope that everything works the first time...

hm. i dont know if i really need 8gb of ram or not, i do basic stuff.. maybe ill hold off until i get the new revision for 2011

Memtest is a bootable disc. Burn the image, boot your Mac holding the option key and select the Disc. It'll be labeled "Windows" and boot it up. It works just like it would on any other PC (Macs are essentially PCs).
