What I don’t like about the Subaru key fob is that it doesn’t have a way to be easily and securely held without dropping it, when I take out the built-in key out of the fob because that key locks the glove compartment. I handed over the fob without the glove compartment key to the mechanic and soon saw the mechanic drop the fob on the ground and it split open. He should have gotten me new one, but instead he assembled the fob back together, but it’s not securely put together because some small pieces of plastic have broken off the fob. So I’m using the spare fob and looking for an AirTag king ring holder to best use with my spare fob. A replacement fob is ~$600 so if the expensive Hermès works most ergonomically with my key fob then it would be worth it. The negative of the Hermès is that it’s on the big side, while the Belkin is simple and small. I suppose the Apple AirTag key ring is somewhere in the middle. None of the 3 above AirTag key ring holders address the problem of when I take out the key that locks/unlocks the glove compartment out of the fob, it leaves the fob with no easy ergonomic way for a mechanic to hold the fob. He would just have to be careful not to drop the fob on the ground, as dropping will likely crack pieces of plastic off the fob and split it open. Can any of the above AirTag key ring holders or do you know any AirTag key ring holders that would make it easy to hold the fob when the key is taken out of the fob?

Can you show a picture of your fob? And perhaps your mechanic as it sounds like you're having your car serviced by Captain Hook?

My wife has a Suby, and truth be told, I'm not really liking the fob. Let me ask you this - what button do you press to unlock the doors? Don't see what right, its the blue Suby logo. I can't tell you how many times I've hit the rear hatch open button thinking I was unlocking the doors :p

The glove compartment key is on the left and you would put the AirTag holder key ring on the glove compartment key. If I wanted to give the mechanic the key fob while keeping the glove compartment key, key fob would look like what's on the right-hand side of the pic.

The 3 typical AirTag holder key rings (Belkin, Apple, Hermès) on Apple.com can't solve the issue of when I take out the key that locks/unlocks the glove compartment out of the fob. It still leaves the fob with no easy ergonomic way for a mechanic to hold it.

What AirTag holder key ring would you recommend ergonomically, cost no object, for everyday use when the glove compartment key is attached to the fob? The Hermès is long, while the Belkin is short, and the Apple AirTag key ring is in between.

I thought it would be this one... I still wonder how you came to the conclusion that taking the glove compartment key changes the ergonomics of holding the key. You encountered a clumsy mechanic.

Have you considered looking for a case for the fob? I had a brief search and there are cases on amazon which have their own loop/keyring attachments that don't rely on the one attached to the glove compartment key - if you're looking to always have something "dangly" to help in holding it, that could be your answer.

Thanks, didn't think cases were made for the fob. I'll do a search on Amazon etc.!

Oh definitely clumsy mechanic, rushing and didn't care, probably because it wasn't his car. I feel if the fob had a dangly thing on it, e.g. key ring, then it would be more ergonomic, easier to hold. I rely on the key ring to help me pull the fob out of my pocket and to hold and use.
