Good luck with your Samsung! Still not too late to return it.

I have a canon MP500 (it's about a year and half old) and it works fantastic.

The canon MP series are perfect combination of price/speed/ and most important ink capacity.

Well I've had it for a couple months now...happy with it and looks great on my desk.

I am about to purchase a new MBP and trying to take advantage of the rebate. Not finding the perfect AIO for me yet.

I have heard Epsons, not always that reliable and ink cartridges leave ink in them that has to be replaced. Expensive to keep ink in it.

HPs have heard ink goes fast and wireless connect probs with Macs?

Canons I have heard more good things about than any other brand. I am leaning toward that. I really need wireless and a little apprehensive that I will have a problem, after reading posts from lots of people who do.

I don't see why the companies involved can't straighten that out before they go offering them. At any rate...I have a Dell router and DSL cable and no wireless adaptor from Apple. Like Airport? Right now I have a Dell and a Macbook working on this wireless network fine. I am hoping I can just add the printer without a lot of fuss.

Anyone have any thoughts on that?
Also..looking more for a scanner than a printer...so the AIO is tempting. No one has mentioned the Canon MP970, which looks like it has a great scanner. Anyone?

I have really been tempted by the HP that is wireless, has a great scanner and does Lightscribe to label CDs...love that feature but the machine is expensive. $400. I think it is the C8180...any experience with that one?

Thanks
adam

Hi applelady,

I ended up buying the Samsung all-in-one, this: http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APP...p_mac/mac_accessories/printers&nplm=TN795LL/A

Works great except the driver installation is a little awkward...Samsung wants you to install this thing that sits in the menubar which is really just a link to buying more toner from them, so I had to get rid of that. Don't know about cards though.

excellent choice! i too have the Samsung 4500 and couldn't be happier with it... they recently released new drivers on their website that functions better with Leopard... the drivers that come with the printer are old versions...

also, that little MenuBar app isn't just for Toner... it's a stupid app i agree, but you can just uninstall it, and the printer driver and scanner driver will still work the same... however, this app controls the scanner settings for those who are not using Photoshop and the 4500's TWAIN support.

Thanks for the heads up...I was still using the 1.9 driver and I see it's 2.0 now. So when upgrading, all I need to do is install the printer and scan driver, right? I can leave out smartpanel?

I'm using Photoshop and that's where I do all my scanning from.

I will never buy an HP again

After spending hundreds of dollars on an all-in-one Laserjet 3030 and getting mail from HP saying that my printer was "ready for Leopard" I find that HP lied: scanning and faxing stopped working when I upgraded to Leopard. It's been months since Leopard was released and my 3030 is still a paperweight.
It's clear to me and to the countless people on the HP forum that HP doesn't care very much about supporting their existing customers in a timely manner.

I won't buy another HP again.
