Best anti-virus for mavericks?

The general idea was that macs don't get viruses so I never installed one, but in today's dangerous online world things are getting pretty scary.

I am looking for a reliable anti-virus software that will search and clear my 10.9 installation of any adware-malware-spyware-bloatware , without that anti-virus software acting like an adware itself.

I know there are companies like AVG and McAfee but thos eact like adware and bloatware themselves.
