Now that I can jailbreak my 3GS with hopes to tether for my iPad, was wondering: what is the best tethering app you guys would recommend? Wanna make sure it would be an app that won't overcharge me on data. Would that be PDANet?

Just "Spirited" my iPhone 3Gs 3.1.3 and I'm wondering the same thing....

will the old solution : (work?) (NOTE AS OF YET THIS IS UNTESTED WITH THE SPIRIT HACK)

1. Go to Cydia and look for Repositories category
2. Select and install iFoneGuide.nl
3. After Cydia restarts, go to the Search tab and search for Tethering Patch
4. Select and install the patch that fits your phone (3G or 3GS).
5. Once that is done, quit Cydia and enter Safari
6. Type in the address bar: http://help.benm.at
7. Scroll down and select Mobile Configuration
8. Select which ever country you reside in and later the carrier profile that matches you (AT&T, O2, Orange, etc)
9. After that, all you need is to go to Settings => General => Reset and select "Network Settings".
10. Your iPhone will reboot and you should now see Tethering up and working in Network Settings, enjoy!

May be a dumb question but I jb, dl'd mywi and tethered the iPad. Will this be on my bill. What will AT&T do?

I don't think using MyWi will impact your bill. Traditional "approved" tethering is done either via bluetooth or USB--MyWi turns your phone into a wifi hotspot. Again, not sure how AT&T would technically track tethering (way beyond my area of expertise). Only thing that might cause a red flag is an unusual volume of data use so as long as you aren't frequently streaming video for prolonged periods of time, probably OK (at least I hope so as well since I just set up MyWi on my newly JB iPhone :D).

any success stories with this and 3.1.3?

Just used miwi for the first time, and it is amazing, only downside is the battery drain from the iPhone, and the fact that I only have the trial version.

Can I tether using MiWi on a 3GS to an IPADs USB using the Camera Connection Kit?

Yes using MyWi posting this now on my iMac tethered to my iPhone 3GS. MyWi has a USb/Bluetooth tethering option.

I must be slow. You have a usb cable plugged into your iPad (through the camera connection kit I guess) and it's tethering that way? How's it showing the connection? Wifi?
