Best app/service for making subs

I need to make subs for short videos (intended for YouTube and/or Facebook) and I can't figure out what app/service to go with. For now, I'm just using the native subtitles option on YouTube but it seems to be a little basic. I'd like to be able to switch between fonts etc.

Any suggestions? 🙂

I use iMovie for subtitles. Quick and easy. Manual process, not a bunch of fun.

I use Subler for inserting Chapter Markers in videos, but I believe it can do subtitles as well.

I tried that but I couldn't import simple video formats such as .mp4 or .mkv. So I didn't look further into iMovie for this.

That shouldn't be a problem. Which iMovie are you using?

Look at SubtitleStudio, there lite app is available in MAS under the name SubtitleEdit, very clean and polished.
