I've had bad experiences with CSR from phone companies to tech companies. I'll like to have an option to record calls for my records.

    In case you are wondering,
    -I have a iphone 3gs
-I live in Illinois where only consent from a single party is needed to record a conversation (there's only 10-12 states that require both parties)
-I won't be using this mischievously; its only purpose would be to provide evidence in case CSR screws something up (example, called AT&T to cancel service, verified the canncellation, but was still billed for 2 months)
-phone is jailbroken so apps from App Store or Cydia are okay.

    What I've tried so far:
-Voice Memos. Doesn't do phone calls
-Tried SpoofApp when it was firmware 1.0 or 2.0 (?). Worked well but was charged for having to dial international.

Looking for an app that does not require dialing a third-party in order to initiate recording.

Thank you and sorry for long post!

VERY interesting and extremely clever if it works. I will have to inquire to see if it uses additional minutes or not. I have T-mo, and since I am calling myself, I am calling within the network and thus not using my minutes. Thanks for the tip!

Thanks, but I am trying to avoid these kind of apps. They use a third party service (requires dialing international sometimes) in order to initiate recording which costs money per unit time. I am looking for an app that saves the recording as an audio file on the phone directly.

Regarding the voicemail trick, it works but for Tmo, calling voicemail uses up minutes even if you have unlimited mobile to mobile. However, I don't plan on doing this often so using double minutes isn't too bad.

It can't be done with current software development kit for AppStore apps.

That's unfortunate. I guess I will try the Cydia/Rock route

    Perfect stelth recording app

Hindsight is the best stealth recording app out there. It is an app that you can have on all the time, but will only record when you hit capture. It acts like a virtual short term memory. It records an audio buffer of the last sixty seconds that is constantly recording, then if somehting needs to be recorded, it already is, just hit capture!
