I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section but i have a 4 yr old daughter that is super keen and capable with ipads and iphones (just like every kid her age i guess) but now she has taken an interest in my iMac. luckily i have a second Imac that I have recently reset to factory for her to learn on but i was wondering what the best applications would be to teach her how to use the computer properly as well as being another device for her to play her apps on?

I enjoy teaching her about the computer myself but sometimes i know she would benefit from some learning time of her own. Can anybody make any suggestions please?

Just to clarify... i have millions of apps on our mobile devices, i'm talking primarily about the iMac here.

Thanks heaps

Would suggest not playing with an App. Just let her play with things and be there to offer advice if something goes wrong or she has a question.

She'll get more out of it that just trying to follow an App.

Apple has some good videos that might help her. She could follow along with the videos then try out things she has seen.

A good idea would be to set her up with her own standard (non-admin) account so she can do whatever she wants in there without worrying about deleting any data or anything from your personal account.

Great idea getting her an early start with this. :)

Just let her play with it. If she manages to bork it just restore it. That's the best way to learn. Sit with her to guide her. Or if you haven't got the time, leave her too it and 3 weeks later have her teach you stuff she discovered that you didn't know. Most important thing to tell her "you can't break it. Press every button. See what it does. Enjoy yourself"
