Disney is in a sense paying subscribers (via a lower monthly subscription price) to allow them to run ads. Lower priced streaming services with ads are quite popular with subscribers.

A pay/ad hybrid model for content has long been the norm for newspapers, magazines, and television. At least streaming services typically offer an option to go ad-free (for a higher price) or ad-supported (for a lower price). These services aren't necessarily able to generate enough revenue with ads to be able to offer the content for free.

That makes since, but I’m still paying to see ads. Also I didn’t proof read my comment, and auto correct mangled it so badly that I don’t know what my original statement was. But it looks like you got the gist of what I was trying to say.
