best application for downloading vids from youtube

coming from a pc, i just used free online sites to convert these vids but i found that they didn't really give me the best quality audio files.

are there any apps that i can use that will convert them to higher quality audio files?

You cannot upconvert the audio files that you already have. Try this.

Click2flash allows to download so that's what I use since Activity window was gutted.

Fastesttube. http://kwizzu.com. Safari extension that adds a download button under Youtube videos. You can select whatever quality you want.

I find that MacTubes works really well for downloading YouTube videos....

Not sure about up-converting... Thats like trying to uncompress a JPEG file. If the data isn't there, you can't make it better.
