Any views on best app or alternatives to remote into my Mac from my 10.5 Pro?

I have tried Parallels Access but it seems buggy. Recently I bought Jump Desktop and thought it was great (except it does not look the screen) but also it doesn’t work that well with my Apple BT keyboard (admittedly an old version), the Shift and Cmd keys often do not work. Also using a Magic Mouse which seems ok so far till I hit a problem and the app freezes.

I do need to solve this if I am going to upgrade to a new 12.9 which I am keen on doing but without the Magic kbd so I need external to work.

Many thanks.

Microsoft Remote Desktop?

I’m looking at VNC viewer, think RDP is for PCs only but not sure.
You're correct, Microsoft Remote Desktop is to connect to Windows only.
I've used Screens on both iOS/iPadOS and macOS for years. It works well, and supports the trackpad in iPadOS, which is really nice.
Edit: there are some iOS/iPadOS limitations on when the command key can't be used. You can't, for instance, send command-Q to a remote Mac, but Screens puts up a special button bar on the iPad screen that will allow you to send a command key equivalent to the remote computer.

I’ve used Screens for years and never had any real problems. I’ve started experimenting with Jump Desktop and I haven’t seen any of the problems you describe but I am using the Magic Keyboard. I don’t know if that makes a difference.

I haven’t seen a lot of difference between the two solutions though Jump Desktop might be a little faster for screen updates. Screens connects faster than Jump Desktop but neither is particularly slow at connecting.

Right now I have both Screens Connect and Jump Desktop Connect running on my Mac at the same time with seemingly no conflicts.

Following. I use VNC viewer but looking at either screens or jump desktop as an alternative. There is nothing wrong with VNC but it’s a little awkward to use. I also can’t help but think other options would be faster.

Can anyone compare jump or screens to VNC viewer to test? I only want to purchase if it’s worth it.

The best thing about Screens is they offer an online component that lets you resolve your desktop location no matter where you are. It is worth the price in my opinion. I use it to get the IP address of my machine for other things as needed. I can turn on and off remote login and file sharing as needed remotely.

I’m pretty sure Jump Desktop also has a online component but I haven’t tried it since I’m not away from home right now.
