I use FolderSynchronizer (http://www.softobe.com/products/flsy/pp.html) and it works great. I don't care about OS and programs -- that stuff is easily recovered, I only backup data.

I use a combination:

Nightly online backup using http://mozy.com/. This backs up documents, browser profile etc. 2GB is free and I don't backup any huge folders with this.

SuperDuper clone every so often so that I can boot straight off it in the event of a hard disk failure. I can use that until I get a new hard disk.

DVD-R's with my music on which I keep elsewhere.

i use toast 8 and love it. 😀

actually it's called deja vu in toast that does a great job of backing up (timed or manual) ...
