Whoever actually pays that much for it deserves a 16gb for being an uninformed shopper, I got a unlocked gold 32gb for way less than that.

iPhone users are used to overpaying for less features anyway

I agree. If you decide not to shop around, thats on you. Bestbuy is dirty for this though. The is like price gouging.

Best buy does have a price match policy that you are welcome to use. If you are too lazy to do research or attempt to use the policies that are available for you to take advantage of. You deserve to get ripped off and pay way way more than retail. Enjoy those reward zone points along with that 18 month financing.

That's a placeholder price. It's set ridiculously high so no one accidentally sells it to a customer.

I agree 100% and I don't think Best Buy is "evil" for this either, and hey can price anything they want. If the shopper is too stupid to research, that is the shoppers fault, not Best Buy.

I bought mine from an Apple store... They have the unlocked versions in stock at their stores, just not advertising them as available for store pick-up on their website, yet.

it does make them look BAD. Every other retailer sells the iphone at the same price as apple. This is why a lot of people dont shop bestbuy.

Again guys, placeholder cost. Many items that aren't available show up at the same exact price. The Chromecast was listed as such until the stores actually were able to sell the product.

As others said they price match, and other retailers have done this too. In this age of on-line researching there isn't an excuse to be paying more than you should.

I'll still shop at Best Buy because I have found them cheaper on a lot of things (others things I haven't) and have been more than helpful to me also.
