From what I have been seeing. it looks like Amazon has been started to ban people in the last 6 months. If you are still returning a lot of items, I think there is a fair chance of getting a warning and then a ban.

That seems to be the case. I would bet it's partly due to investors leaning on them to become more profitable. Amazon generates obscene amounts of money each quarter but are either losing money that quarter or just above break even. Jeff Bezos said many times that Amazon can be extremely profitable anytime it wants.

Shipping kills Amazon even with standard free shipping so any returns by customers impacts their bottom line. There's a rumor that Amazon Prime will go from $79 to possibly $120 in the future and even as a Prime member you'll now have a minimum purchase in order to get 2 free shipping.

Newegg at one time was a lot like Amazon and got beat up and lost a lot of money so now they charge restocking fees. They'll even sell you New items that at best are open box or used.

Why "of course" ? Best Buy will match prices and is local to most places. You can also browse the Amazon website then buy at BB for instant gratification.

Because Amazon always have what I want and at better prices. Best Buy always has a crappy selection whenever I used to go ten years ago. So much wasted time when I could be doing something else. Also I don't want to do deal with ******* sales people and cocky cashiers.

The BestBuys in my area are usually crowded. The only complaint is the sales' people's persistence. Buying the main product can be a good deal; however, buying accessories usually is not.

Best Buy will price match so Amazon does not have better prices. Best Buy did a pretty good job with Bestbuy.com (not as good as Amazon's website though) so you can actually see what's available and if it's in your local store.

When I'm looking to buy something, I browse the Amazon website to pick out what I want (read through the reviews etc). I then check out the Best Buy website to see if it's in stock locally. If Best Buy has it, I buy it there. Otherwise, I order it from Amazon.

Price matching is worthless when their selection sucks online and in store.

How do you know when you said it was 10 years ago you last shopped there :p.

I highly doubt they magically improved their merchandise selection and customer service to match Amazon's since then. Heck they're on the brink of going out of business. I can't wait until there's no more Best Buys and Gamestops.

I think it comes down to immediacy. If Best Buy has what I need, and I can pick it up same day (or need it same day), I can just buy it there and have Best Buy price match Amazon. If I don't need the item asap, or if I don't have time to make a short trip to Best Buy, Amazon will get my business. I order a lot from Amazon, especially with Prime membership. But there are those rare instances where I need something right away, and Best Buy fulfills that.

I never understood this. You want Amazon to be the only place to shop ?

I don't get this either.....

I used to shop exclusively on amazon until they did the add-on feature on to amazon prime. Everything I do now is all local unless I can't find it. Best buy has actually improved greatly over the years and I enjoy shopping there. Their in store pickup option is great.

Sounds to me like a NYC problem than a best buy problem ;)

Sure why not? Until a local brick & mortar store can match their selection and customer service I'm going to stick to Amazon & Newegg. Best Buy and Gamestop are the last of the crappy brick & mortar stores on my list I want to go out of business. I was estatic when Blockbuster finally went under.

Not exclusive to NYC. The ones I have been to in PA and Delaware are just as bad.

I stopped using Newegg quite a long time ago. Their customer service has gotten worse over the years and they started selling items that were sold as NEW when they were either open box, refurbhised or even worse, used.
