Following an Amazon-exclusive Matte White version of the Beats Studio Pro that launched last month, Best Buy recently debuted its own exclusive color option for the over-ear headphones from the Apple-owned brand: Black & Gold.

Offering a two-tone alternative to the standard Black color option, the Black & Gold Beats Studio Pro feature a largely black exterior but with something of a champagne or gold color inside the headband and all the way down to where the ear cups attach. Gold accents for the headband hinges and the Beats "b" button provide additional contrast.

The Black & Gold Beats Studio Pro come with the same traditional black nylon case as the original four launch colors for the headphones, and they come with gray USB-C and 3.5mm cables for charging and connectivity.

The new Black & Gold color option for the Beats Studio Pro retails for the usual Studio Pro price of $349.99, although Best Buy is currently running a significant sale on most Beats headphones and earphones that knocks $100 off to bring the price to $249.99.

I am very pleased with my Apple Bests Studio Pro’s. Two 6 hour flights, more than acceptable Noise Cancelling. Integration to Apple excellent. Sound in my world very good. Battery life excellent. Like the looks of these.

Interesting that Apple is doing this with Amazon and Best Buy though. Wonder what they're seeing that we aren't. I've never considered Beats.

every beats over ear I've owned the ear cups pilled & disintegrated away.

never buying headphones that don't have ear cushion magnetic swapping like the APM again.

what about just getting replacement ear pads?
Most headphone vendors don't use/need magnetic held ear pads thats more of a novelty to see utilized. What is important is that you find out that you can get replacement ear pads before buying a headphone. Yeah the cheapest ones a lot of the time don't offer that. ;)

Apple's gonna do anything just to avoid releasing over-ear headphones with the H2 chip.

So interesting that Apple allows Beats to offer numerous headphone versions, yet Apple with its AirPod Max headphone seems ultra conservative to versions? Guess that’s what allows this all to not interfere with each other.
It’s just brand identity.

All AirPods’ designs match the design language (proportions and shapes) of other Apple products, like Magic Mouse, iPad Air, HomePod.

The same goes for the colors: While maybe not matching 1/1. The specific color ways and palettes used for AirPods are matched to go well with all of Apple’s other Apple products (yes, Apple makes non-Apple products, like beats).

Beats feature very different designs that aren’t matched to Apple’s products.

One way this is achieved is with the hues used for the metallic, gold and silver accents, as well as all the other colors: All way to saturated or glossy to fit together with Apple products.

-In short, Apple very deliberately never wants consumers thinking “are these beats or AirPods?” when looking at AirPods, or vice versa.

I get that everyone in here just wants what they want and don’t care. Sure, I’m not to decide what you like.

But I assure you that Apple could not keep the idea alive that AirPods are worth the big premium over beats or other brands if they weren’t as deliberate with features, design and marketing as they are.

AirPods are the perfect synergy between great technology, design and meticulous(!) branding to have everyone and their mom buy into the idea that AirPods are the most premium of headphones out there.

Like, do you realize how insane the counterfeit market for AirPods is? It’s not that for beats, not even close.

Apple doing any color, any hue for AirPods would ruin their brand identity.

At most, you’ll see AirPods color ways that match products like iPad Air or iMac.

Apple has always done colored products in a very way. AirPods are never going to stray from these guidelines.

AirPods’ colors will not change.

AirPods as a brand is so valuable that Apple can literally just switch the charging port and tweak the color ways a bit and buyers will still go out and get them.

Why do more if they still sell?

And those holding their breath for AirPods Max with H2 are still going to go out and get them whether they drop now or in 2 years.

Us discussing these differences between AirPods and beats, and how everyone wants a true upgrade to the 1st Gen. Maxs, just proves how valuable the brand is.

Apple can rest on its laurels for years and AirPods will still be in high demand.

-Everyone is crazy for AirPods!

Honestly I think it's cool Apple keeps allowing Beats to operate almost entirely independent from Apple. And their products have improved over the last few years. But still the price is steep for the (lack of) quality you get.

For this price you still can buy headphones that are about 10x the quality in sound. For example the Meze Audio 99 Classics.

I unfortunately chose the Beats Studio Pro 3 over the Sony and Bose around 2019 and it was one of the worst tech purchases I've ever made. The ANC was un-useable on an airplane and they hurt after just an hour or so as they are far too tight. I was told you have to wear them in. What a load of BS. I only purchased them because they are part of the eco system with the H1 chip. I wouldn't even buy them for 250. In fact I gave mine away. Punishment to myself for falling for them. AirPods Pro on the other hand are fantastic.

annoyingly, this was the type of colour scheme I’d been waiting for but I’m outside of the US so I guess I’m out of luck 😓😓😓
