Placed an order for one at 1499 plus tax at the San Rafael store and received an email that they were no longer in stock. Boooo

It's the 2.3ghz version

Actually it's a clearance item, not open box, which implies that it is new...weird

Kinda suspicious, you'd think if they were trying to get rid of the inventory it would be available in more stores and online...

if its 2.3 gigahertz its quite old, they replaced the 2.3 versions with 2.4ghz in january 2013

Not really related but similar..does this seen legit?

The company is based in china and I've never heard about them..plus it says it's a pre order item which is wrong

the pre order bit is actually ok, ie probably meaning that ur order will not be instantly processed as they need to get more stock

what worries me is the fact that in the specifications they state that the 15 inch retina has a kensington slot whcih it definitely does not.
dont buy it

Yea still just in the "order received" status. States that it is "confirming in-store stock"
I really don't know, but I'm excited to find out!

Any luck?

Are you planning on trying your luck at the store?

I placed an order around 6:50 last night and I received an email at 8:36 this morning saying my order has been canceled.

Gosh! It's a hard decision for me!
I just bought a used rMBP 15" 2012 model 2.7, 16GB, 780GB on ebay for $2100. And I thought it's the best deal I could find.
However, I saw this thread and checked out BB near my house, and found rMBP 15" 8GB, 256GB for $1299 ($1350 include tax)!!!

WHAT A HEACK!

Should I give up on my current rMBP, sell it on ebay and get a clearance rMBP 15" from best buy today?

placed an order last night at 9:30 and it's 10:34 now with no email besides my purchase confirmation and order details D:

Give up on it and send it my way! :D

If I were you and you're happy with your computer, I would see no need for you to switch it out. Sounds like you already got a really good deal on your current machine too.

You should try placing the order, but a lot of orders are getting cancelled. Maybe try going to the store?

Thanks for the advice... yeah, I think I'll keep it. I don't want to run around finding a good deal anymore lol.

Thank you! I think I'm going to keep my current one then. It's very good deal! No brainer! But I don't want to keep buying and selling the current one :(
That is what I did in the past before I got this current rmbp.

They're gone up and down the west coast.

I had really helpful people at the Best Buy here in Reno check other stores in other districts. Everyone is sold out, except one store still using theirs as a display model.

Edit: For those of you placing orders for pickup at the Burbank store, they are OUT. I don't know why the system is still letting orders go through, but they don't have a single one in stock. This is why your online orders are being cancelled.

About to head to my local store. According to online, they have both the 2.6/512 and the 2.3/256 in stock. I'll report back

I'm very disapointed I missed this. I don't really want a 15", which is why I've been holding out for a 13" with Haswells improved graphics, but for $1499 for a 512gb 15", I would have been all in.

Well, if you include the cost of the upgrades, the machine you bought on ebay costs $3200 new - it is also a 2013 model, while the one from BestBuy is a 2012 machine.

Not sure why you suddenly want to buy a machine with much weaker specs, just because it is cheap...

my order was cancelled and i called in about it, and they didn't have it.

i'm sad.

I ended up calling my store too. I was put on hold for about 5 mins and then was told that their system shows 1 in stock but it is no where to be found. And that they had been recieving calls for that unit all morning. Ended up canceling my order and apologized :/

I think one of the employees hid it to purchase themselves....

mine is also 2012 model..
I just think that I don't need this highest spec.. 258GB and 8GB ram is also enough for me. I can save about $600 if I get the clearance one from best buy. So I can use this money to buy the AppleCare ($300).

But well, I already decided to keep my current one.

So if they are now sold out, what comes next? The new macbook pros? Somebody needs to grab a telescope and aim it at the Best Buy shipping arrival bays. But really, I'm guessing the macbooks in this sale are not the current models on the apple website, which is why all are so sold out and the prices cut so harshly.

Why is August out of the question? Is it the student sale? Seems like a perfect time to me given that stores are going on clearance and that they'll need time between for the mavericks/iphone/etc. event probably in october, plus college students are holding onto their money. This is terrible.

This is exactly what it is, the MC* models are the ones they were clearing out. Those models have been on their shelves since ~June of 2012. You really needed to have a low traffic, at least for Apple notebook computers, Best Buy near you to take advantage of this deal. It was certainly a fantastic deal considering the same model rMBP from Apple as a refurb is $1599 as opposed to the $1249 others were quoting. Congrats to those lucky enough to get one at these prices. I would have loved to as well but my local Best Buys are pretty heavily trafficked. I have a refurb base model 2012 rMBP arriving next week from Apple.
