went by my local best buy and they had a few open box ipads 3, picked up a black 32gb verizon in perfect condition not even a finger print on the screen and paid 656.99 a 10% savings.

There's not a fingerprint on the screen because Best Buy wiped it with Windex. Now there is no anti-fingerprint coating as well.
Sorry man.

I just thought of something, even if it were filled with issues, you paid less and now can get a replaced one at apple :)

i know there isn't a anti-fingerprint coating as this is my 4th ipad:rolleyes: but i have bought open items before and the condition isn't that great, just letting people who wanted a better deal..

I went to buy an open box iPad after work today and they would only give me 5% off the price. I told them I had read that other Best Buy locations were discounting open box iPads at 10% off the price but he wouldn't budge on the price.

Anyway, I have 30 days to return it so this will probably be going back in the next few days if they won't match the discount of other Best Buy locations.

See what they have the price listed at here: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Global/Deals-Near-Me/pcmcat254400050000.c?id=pcmcat254400050000

It should be 10%. All open box items are at least 10% off. He refused to give you more than 5% off because he doesn't want his sales numbers to suffer.

Same here at a BBY in Texas. Discount of the 16 GB ATT 4g was only 5% for total of $ 600. I didn't ask further since I was looking for a Verz one.

I thought it was 14?

I bought an open box from BB before. No problems, but I made sure I had APple care. Its a good thing I did because after 4 months it started acting up. Took it to Apple, and they replaced it with a new one.

Just changed to 30 for everything buy Special order items. Also the store should be giving 10% as that is SOP for open box items. As stated above they dont want to hurt numbers and they know people will pay it

You can get brand spankin new ones with free shipping and No tax at online sellers. like B&HPhoto and maybe JandR. yours with tax is about the same $. tax here is about 9% or $60.
nothing wrong with open box but if you can unopened new items online for about the same it's not a great deal IMO.

So a discount in general isn't good enough... You want more?

I never like used items especially iPads, even though they cleaned the heck out of it. The thought of the original owner was probably watching porn sites and touching himself and iPad etc.

This comment isn't even worth answering but I guess I'm going to...

I want Best Buy to match the discount they are offering at other stores located in my state and throughout the country. A discount is good...yes, but it is an open box item (no longer new and no longer worth the original retail price) and it does result in a discount to the buyer. If they are willing to give a 10% discount at one location, they should give it at another.

I'm not trying to be rude or difficult, I would just like them to match the precedence that have set at other locations. If they don't want to, that's fine, I will return it. Not a big deal.

I would imagine that many of the open box iPads were returned because of the screen tint issue. I would not buy one.

i was planning on seeing what my local BB had in open box when i take the xoom to trade it in.

I would imagine buyer's remorse is more likely than anything to do with the device itself. The average person isn't as anal retentive about screen perfection as some of the folks that populate sites like this one.

To OP, my iPad 1 was an open box Best Buy purchase about a month or so after they came out. Still going strong for me now.
