Best Buy is offering $150 off MacBooks with a .edu email.

Has anyone tried this? I don't have a .edu address and was curious what the email coupon looks like and if I could use a friend's code. Or do they need to make the actual purchase?

All you really need is the code, but the e-mail has a barcode / promo code. The code can be added during checkout while paying online to do an in-store pickup, so no verification is really done. People on the Slickdeals forum are giving out codes, shouldn't be too hard to get one if you really want one.

Thanks. I got a code. Sadly with tax the Best Buy price is still higher than Amazon even with the discount.

Anyone know how often BB releases these coupon deals? I used one a month ago, and it was set to expire like April 4. I didn't realize BB would turn around and offer it again, otherwise I probably would have waited on my purchase.

The website doesn't mention a date. I didn't end up using the code but I entered my email again today and got a new code. Expires June 14th.

Out of curiosity I signed up again for BB to send me student discount coupons. The last time I used the Macbook coupon a month ago, the fine print did not exclude Open Box purchases.

On the coupon that they just emailed me, it now excludes Open Box. Has anyone gotten lucky and still was able to have BB apply coupon to Open Box?

Yes. I called in to make an order and the lady said that it excludes open box items, but she still tried and was able to get it applied to my order.

can you get a Best Buy Rewards points or Reward Zone or whatever that is...that way even though it may be a similar cost to amazon, you can get a best buy gift card for more free stuff.

Yes you can. I bought a MacBook Air from best buy in February using the student coupon and got $15 in reward certificates.

ahhh, I thought it would be more than $15. but i suppose better than nothing.

Does anyone know if this is on top of the sales price? The MBP retina I'm looking at is $75 off right now so would I get an additional $150 off or only $150 total?

One more question does anyone know if I could use both the macbook coupon and the imac coupon? If so I'd get both.

Just bought an "open box" 2014 Air for $653+ tax with the Student Deal! :D:apple:

Purchased an Open Box 2013 13.3 MBA 256gb 4gb for $839+ tax in store. When I first called they said the coupon could not be used for open box items. I decided to give it a try anyway because it was such a deal. Went in, employee pulled the box for me, gave him my coupon, he scanned it no prob, paid, and then I was out. I forgot to give him my BB Rewards info, but he said I could add the info online.

Steal of a deal.:D

Hi,
Can anyone use .edu address to obtain for me student promo code for BestBuy?
I would really appreciate you support!
Jacob

This prolly sounds stupid but how do u apply the promo code? You hVe to setup an account?

You buy online and enter promo at checkout or print and show in store when paying.
To get the code you provide simply the email address on the bestbuy page to. Code is sent via emil,

Hmm so a MacBook Air at 799 would be 650 then movers coupon would take it down to 585. Man less than 600 for a mb air? Anyone confirm u can do this?
