These machines have 2 things going against them. They weigh too much and their displays cause eye strain and headaches. The latter is an absolute deal breaker. Apple is long way from fixing either of those. So expect a lot more sales.

I just paid $2000+ for a 14" 16GB/512GB laptop that weighs 2.2 lb and has an EyeSafe display.

I'm a diehard macOS fan. I'm not price sensitive. But Apple drove me away.

In my view it’s the lack of new interesting features that holds back sales.

an x% increase in performance is not enough for the vast majority of users to upgrade your device. They’re interested in new screen tech, maybe new chassis colours, improved I/O, battery life, decreased weight,…

M1 was revolutionary, M2, M3 and even M4 are more evolutionary and then the things mentioned above are more important triggers for upgrading. Spec bumps alone won’t drive much extra sales

It’s the economy dude. Laptop sales are down 30% for everyone. Good deals though.
Beat me to it. Even here in the UK then USA economy and people feeling pinch due to increased cost of living. Reading one article and said 25% increase in grocery prices since 2021. At which point big ticket items like this are going to be less important.

I could get ASUS ROG Stirix G18 18 Inch QHD LCD 500 nit screen, 32 GB RAM i9 14th Gen SoC, configurable colour backlight keyboard, GSYNC, GTX4060, 1 TB SSD PClie for $1800+tax!

These are massive deals.. I understand why people think the new ones are coming out this fall… but Apple never releases new Mac/ipad products during the Back to School deal.. so It won’t be coming until October at the EARLIEST.. They never release new products in December as well… So there’s a small window where they may release some in October/ November… I just also have a hard time seeing that as they are releasing the new iPhones and Watches in September. That’s a little too close. iPhone still drives Apple as far as revenue..

I clicked the link for the 14" with M3 Pro and 1TB. Best Buy is showing $2399 (full price), not $2099.

Go for it, don’t let us stop you, be happy, go forth and conquer. But don’t forget that EXTRA long power cord since you’re gonna want to keep that thing tethered at all times for the best performance.
