when did apple monetarily support a candidate or political cause. link please.

Really? You really believe that Apple has never given money to a political cause or candidate? What color is the sky in your world?

In this the "real" world almost all large public companies donate to political candidates/causes. They donate to candidates/causes who will best represent the interests of the company and it's shareholders. For a public company to not do so would be a disservice to it's shareholders.

Google "apple political contributions"

A few selections:
http://www.campaignmoney.com/apple_computer.asp
http://www.politicalaccountability.net/index.php?ht=a/GetDocumentAction/i/2317

Again, spend your money how you want, but if your boycott of companies is really based on ANY monetary contribution to politics, then you gotta boycott Apple too, or change your criteria.

I don't care what they're doing, Best Buy can s__k it!

This is all just my opinion of course.

labor unions collect dues from members and poll the members to see who to give money to. it's a democratic process.

riiiight.

Unions also get tax breaks (see Obamacare) and they can use their members' jobs as bait to get tax money (see teacher unions - such as Education Minnesota.) So they aren't just playing with their member's money. They are playing with taxpayer money.

But it is all a democratic process right?

Setting aside whether you're a fan of Best Buy or not, this actually seems like excellent news for the iPad.

To say that the iPad will be available at "all Best Buy stores" is really pretty significant.

As some have noted, some(larger) Best Buy stores have more Apple products than others. My observation as a frequent Best Buy shopper(but otherwise not a BB expert by any stretch) is that in larger stores they have a whole Apple ministore, with an Apple specialist who resides in the store. At these stores, you can buy iMacs, Macbooks, and many other Apple products, including iPads.

Smaller stores which do not have these Apple mini-stores typically just stock: ipods, Apple Airport Express, Airport Extreme & very few other non-ipod products.

Just my opinion, but it seems like a pretty big deal to me that iPad is being added to this pretty small list of "all stores" Apple products.

For pete sake . . .

Why can't corporations make donations to groups that they support? In the case you mentioned, Target, BBY (and Polaris) gave money to a group that supports lowering taxes for corporations. If I'm a shareholder, I want them to try to do what's right for the company - especially here in tax heavy Minnesota (where target and best buy are based.)

It really isn't any different then the labor unions throwing money at candidates - heck - it may even be worse!

Yes the unions are worse. The members have no choice not to pay dues(or even not join)Then their money is spent on candidates that many of them don't support.Given your info about BB and Target,I'm MORE likely to shop there. When will people figure out that corporations don't pay taxes?Their CUSTOMERS do.Taxes, utilities, labor, raw material, uniforms, toilet paper-it's all right there in the cost of your flash drive,or headphones,or frozen plantains.

corporations are not people, should not be allowed to give to the political system. i have no problem with individual people, ceo's board directors, etc. giving their personal money. that's their right as human beings. money i pay, which becomes corporate profits, should not be given into the political system.

Utter bull.Show me the proof of such polls. And if they exist,is it winner take all??If so it's hardly fair.
Corporations are considered people under the law and have the same rights and obligations.

Yes it is good for Apple and the iPad.I'm not a fan of BB though and just glad I have an Apple store in town.

WHY?????????????????????

It's selling as fast as they make it,unless you've got some inside info to share?

Have you checked BestBuy inventory for iPads lately? It's available in all stores. So they clearly make it faster that people are buying.

I checked this earlier, and it is true of all stores which currently carry the iPad(AKA, the stores which have Apple ministores and carry Apple Computers). The good news here is that soon "all stores" will carry the iPad, even the ones that do not carry iMacs, Macbooks, etc.

Im not a huge fan of BB for all the obvious reasons- that being said, its way closer than my local Apple Store.. I actually just purchased an "Open Box" 16GB iPad WiFi +3G for $559... can't beat that deal.

I was mildly impressed that the sales-kid actually knew about the Apple product line, and was very laid back about his approach to the extended warranty issue.

if you own an iPad, the more people that have them the better... it means better apps, and better support across the board.

Hahaha, right on. The Poll he's referring to consists of the union officials sending out a flier notifying the members that they have donated the money they stole of the them (dues) to whatever democrat is furthest out on the left plank.

Unionism is socialism. Productive workers get paid the same as bums (and are all treated equally because they are union "brothers and sisters".)

best buy, like target, has chosen to use corporate profits (our money) in the political system to buy electoral results. for this reason, i am boycotting both. i will be buying my ipad (when it comes equipped with a camera) elsewhere.

that said, i am sure this is good news for apple's sales and all those who own AAPL.

So, if you're a business owner, you think it is wrong to use your profits to lobby for government that is favorable to your business? So supporting a lobby for lower business taxes is wrong? Or for health care choices that affect you favorably? Regardless of what we each think helps out our own interests (not trying to take political sides here), isn't that democracy, and ultimately, even smart business?

You probably don't want to know that AT&T supports the Tea Party caucus

The biggest organizational contributors to Tea Party caucus members are the people and political action committees associated with AT&T, Honeywell International and the American Bankers Association.

Time to get a Verizon Droid....

I always buy my Apple products at Best Buy. Why? Because it is nice to build up some Reward Zone points and get some coupons back. If I buy from Apple it is the same price and I don't get any points.

Many people, like myself, don't have an Apple store near them. Even with a decent population and income bracket. BB has been the best place to get Mac stuff as long as you're smart enough with knowing what you're buying and when to buy.

It's nice to see that the iPad is falling in line with the long armed reach of the iPod line.

Add 18 mo interest free financing, various gift cards from friends and family and BB's usual price matching to nearby stores and you can leave with a pretty good deal.

Except you get RewardZone points for it.($20 certificate from my iPad purchase alone) You get absolutely dick for buying something at the Apple store, -and the price is the same.
Oh, and it's the same brand new iPad you get at the Apple store.
Fred's used car lot doesn't sell new, fully authorized, fully warrantied BMWs.

I help friends buy electronics for their rz points. I saved 60 off my iPad and earned 10 more by using bestbuy. I love those points, like free money.
