Proof that this was a flop. No one can argue this the Apple Watch is a hit. Very niche market. The masses simply don't care about this product.

You're wrong. Estimates average at 5.8 Mil units sold in its first year. It took the first iPhone longer. I can argue, as can anyone, that since the Apple Watch sold more than the original iPhone, it is a hit. At an estimated average of $529 per watch sold, Apple's revenue is $3 billion. Please stop spewing false opinions just because you don't have a use for the product. The iPhone SE was instantly discounted by T-mobile, doesn't mean its not a hit either.

That is speculative, when was the last time apple (or big box retailers) have heavily dropped the prices before the next product release? I believe never and lets not forget that Apple just dropped the apple watch sport prices a couple of weeks ago already...

Don't forget that the discount on the Apple Watch SS (with sportsband) from 599 to 399 is a discount of a whopping 33%!! ... Best buy cannot drop the price this heavily by its own... I believe Apple is testing (through Best Buy) these price ranges for the SS models to see how the customer response is.

Just my opinion

I'd like to see the SS model settle into this price range permanently, with a Titanium option taking over the prior price point. It's a pretty heavy watch and Titanium would wear better.

I need some advice so perhaps you guys can help me. The Apple - MacBook® Pro - Intel Core i5 - 13.3" Display - 4GB Memory - 500GB Hard Drive - Silver is priced at $874.99.

Is this a brand new computer and if so is this good value? Yes, I realise it is several years old tech. I have a SSD and 8GB RAM I could install in it.

It seems like I would be saving significant amount of money on it compared to buying it elsewhere especially UK where i am based. If i have to ship it to US then not a problem as i have a friend visiting from there next month.

No, proof that next gen are coming out.
Happens every time.
You must have missed that.
Every business does that to clear out inventory for the new stuff.

This Macbook is terrible, I would not recommend.

So annoying. I wanted space black but refused to pay $1100 at launch now it's the same price as I payed for my space grey sport.

Wasn't the space black at launch ridiculously expensive because it was paired with an expensive watch band? Or am I remembering wrong?

Yeah it was only available at launch with the space black link bracelet. No way was I dropping $1100 on a smart watch I never used before.

The Apple Watch has to be the most useless piece of tech since light up sneakers. Personally I wouldn't be caught dead wearing one. It's a lame fad, much like big hair in the 80s or parachute pants in the 90s. Don't allow yourself to be photographed wearing one - in 20 years your kids will make fun of you for it!

Even cheaper if you're willing to go with an open box in excellent condition. The 38mm space black stainless steel is only $314, and the 42mm is $359.

Reason for the sale has nothing to do with a new Apple Watch 2 - it has to do with the new assortment of models involving the nylon bands. The variety of watches offered at BBYs across the country in changing and many stores will stop carrying the high end models because they simply don't sell as well in BBY. The stores with the Apple Store-like watch displays will carry everything. Other stores will just carry sport models or SS with sport/nylon bands. ALL BBYs can't stock every Apple sku - there are a lot of watch combos now.

One of the worst/most blatant attempts at trolling I've seen here (saying a lot) - try harder buddy.

So buy one and sell your current model - you'll still come out ahead of the Space Black SS with sport at regular price....

I don't get the whining when it comes to stuff like this. The likelihood that a product will be cheaper at some point in the future than it is at the time you purchase it is very high. If that's the model you really want, buy it (it's a GREAT deal), and find someone else who would like an Apple Watch at a "used" discount.

Many of us employ this simple strategy to enjoy all kinds of fun, new tech. It's not terribly difficult to sell something second hand nowadays.

ding ding ding...

Look at the big sale on the retina Macbook they had in March and April clearing out the stock... and boom Apple drops the 2nd generation version this week.

WWDC is in a few short weeks. If I were a betting man I'd wager there's some new hardware coming so BestBuy is clearing stock.

Wouldn't this logic lead one to assume a sale on ALL watch models as opposed to the 4 models that sell the least?

Exactly - it was almost instantly the best selling watch in the "smart watch" category (even though Apple doesn't consider it in that vein).

How about all carriers throwing the literally days old Galaxy S7 and S7 on BOGO? Does that mean it was a flop/piece of garbage?

Well....it was...bad example....but still.

What's wrong with parachute pants?

I take it you don't own one? Best buy is also having a sale on appliances, 4K TVs and other products this weekend. They must all be flops, and proof no one wants any these products. Retailers don't ever discount the good stuff right?

Completely agree. And why would someone waste their time trolling a forum for a product they don't even own or like?

They are only offering the discounts on two models so I don't see this as a general selloff of inventory. Perhaps an adjustment for over inventory of certain models. If we see something in June it will be an S type upgrade. If nothing until September then it would be more likely to be the Version 2. I'm going to hold on till it becomes clear what we are getting and when.

Who doesn't want to be Dick Tracy? But, useless? Maybe to you, but not to everyone. I'm certainly not a proponent of The Watch, and I consider it to maybe be closer to a flop than a huge success. The fact is, 5.8M (if that number is even close to reality, no one really knows) watches WORLDWIDE is not that many. People bought 1.5M Pet Rocks in 6 months back in the 70's (3M per year)...testament that people will buy ANYTHING regardless of usefulness.

Lest we not forget about the rMBP deal here, I had almost $800 in BB rewards and GC's. Added a $50 student discount, I picked up a new rMBP for next to nothing. It came with free Office 365 Personal, which I will resell, making the deal even sweeter.

Pet rocks even in 1970 dollars weren't $700 a pop and a testament to people buy what they want, not what you or anybody else thinks are useful.

It's called wanting to move excess inventory they have.
How does the reduction in price get handled? Does best buy make less money? Is the reduction split between best buy and apple?

As an authorized reseller, Best Buy purchases inventory from Apple and sets the price based on their analysis (taking into consideration Apple's contractual stipulations). Best Buy then resells the products for a profit (or loss) based on the price they sell them for. Apple gets their money up front, and the resellers get theirs from the end users.

200 bucks off the apple sport watch then ill buy it....

Good luck with that. Sounds like eBay is your source.

Rumor was Apple was exploring with different casing options. Titanium is far light and extremely durable. I feel once newer and more expensive casing options evolve, the stainless will be the lower grade. Which is fine with me, being I love the weight and shimmer with 316L Stainless.

More like limited inventory. I spoke with a Best Buy Sales representative, he said those models listed for sale are subject to fluctuation with limited stock in store. Some stores only had 3 of each in stock and nothing more. 6 stores in my area, nothing available.
