I'm just curious if anyone has had experience with Best Buy's return policy on iPads?

Ordered 2 minis the other day, and one of my grandsons I ordered it for just seems to gravitate toward the bigger iPads, so I'm either gonna return the mini or sell it. I figure if I'm gonna lose money returning it, I may as well sell it and let someone else benefit from the savings.

FYI, there was nothing in the box with the two iPads - no receipt of any kind.

I've never had any issues. They should be able to process the return based on the serial number if you don't have a receipt

There IS a return fee though - just found my shipping email. I wonder if it's worth returning and losing that, or just selling outright.

There is no restocking fee on the wifi models. I actually did return an iPad Pro LTE 11 because the new one came out a week later and was $50 cheaper. Because I have a good relationship with the store, they waived the re-stocking fee.

I have never had a problem returning things I bought from Best Buy. There isn't much of a reason to be worried.

Thanks. I was thinking there was a restocking fee, so I was considering just selling instead of returning. It is basically brand new.

Theres absolutely no restocking fee for iPads. I’ve been buying from Best Buy for years and have never had an issue. Terrific to place to buy and I get almost all my apple gear there.

Same here. I didn’t realize they stopped giving reward points on apple products.

There’s no restocking fee for WiFi models, but, they will charge you for the “free” antivirus software trial pack they give you. In the fine print, it’s a $30 value and is non-refundable/returnable. The question I’d ask though since you are simply exchanging/upgrading iPad, is if you can just waive the “free” trial stuff on the new one, assuming the new one will come with the same free software.

I was wondering the same thing after reading that last night, so looked on the BB site under an IPP. Sure enough, it's one of the freebies with the product, Webroot for Mac/Windows. I've returned and exchanged multiple Apple items to BB and never had any difference in the refund amount other than the item + tax.

ETA: On closer look, there are several iOS/iPadOS privacy and security apps including one from Webroot, and apparently from the other major security companies too. I can't speak to how well they work, but it doesn't sound like what we think of as traditional anti-virus software.

How do you run antivirus software on an ipad...?

Honestly, I have no idea, but don’t think it’s even possible. That, and the fact that this nonreturnable digital ticket (found out that’s the official name) wasn’t offered at checkout, but rather thrown in. I would've gladly declined it had I known.

I’ve returned several iPads to Best Buy when I was trying to decide on the 2018 Pro’s size. Never had an issue at all.
And just to clarify the ipads were opened? No fee or dirty looks?

I’m thinking of taking back my air 3 for an air 4 but I feel like a jerk doing it lol.

You can return opened computers and devices to BB with no weirdness on their part. It's part of doing business. I've done three or four times this past year, no big deal. Read BB's return policy if you need reassurance particularly if any devices included an activation service.

Yeah, I returned several defective iPads to Best Buy over the summer with no restocking or anything, not even on the cellular models.
